Otherwise known as Best Addictive Game of 2009, but the actual title is more authentic.

Torchlight was a top-down fantasy dungeon crawler Action-RPG for PC and Mac platforms. It was developed by Runic Games, a team composed of 20-something staff members, including the co-founders of Blizzard North. What does all this mean? It means that Torchlight was developed in the hands of those responsible for Diablo. What makes this game so addicting and fun?

The main hook for the game is the really addictive loot system, and great pacing that amps up the difficulty (not to mention loot) at the right times, and provides a seriously epic dungeon clearing experience. A great RPG stat and skill system that is simple enough for casuals to use, and just deep enough for hardcore RPG fans to enjoy. Put simply, the simple complexity of Torchlight is what makes it the Best Virtual Representation of Crack of 2009.

Honorable mentions:

  • Borderlands
  • Plants vs. Zombies
