Bitmob Surveys: Your Top Games of the Decade

Question03Yeah, yeah, so someone else decided Half-life 2 was the game of the decade. That certainly isn't my choice, and it might not be yours. Honestly, I don't know what the best game of the last 10 years is.That's a lot of time to cover.

So, I'm putting the arduous task to all of you. What is your top game of the decade? When you fill out the survey, please follow these instructions:

1. Go to the survey page: What is your Game of the Decade?
2. Preface all of your responses like so: (Your Name): Your Response

This is purely based on what you think, and your answers will be represented when the results are collected.

Bonus: Who is the Question?

These are some tough questions, Jasmine, but they're good ones.
James DeRosa: Three way tie between Super Mario Galaxy, Braid, and Ico. I have no defense because I retyped three times. I backspaced Half-life 2, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and BioShock. I just tried to answer quickly.
Diablo 2, Baldur's Gate 2, Grand Theft Auto 3, Shadow of the Colossus, MGS3:Snake Eater, Resident Evil 4, Braid, just to name a few.
Tommy Ingallinera: Super Smash bros Melee. I'm no Smash bros master, but no other game has eaten up nearly as much of my time.
@Survey peoples: Please fill out the survey linked in the post for your answers to count. :)
I think you all know my choice.
I actually really do think it's Half-Life 2. It has a good balance of excellence, fun, and importance.
Ah shoot, I just filled out the whole survey without including my name. I am fail.
@Mike: I wrote down the number. If you just did it, I'll credit that number with your name.
I went through the entire survey. My defenses of my answers were needlessly verbose ^.^. I also stuck it to half life 2 in my best game of the decade choice. Half life 2 is brillient, don't get me wrong, but you have to save your best game of the decade for something that you truely enjoyed start to finish in my opinion, and half life 2 has it's share of sticking points for me. I chose a game experience that was suitably smooth and perfect.
Left 4 Dead = Game of the Decade. Co-op reimagined.
I was hoping you guys would do this! And man, I really have no idea...is there a list of every game that came out in the last decade I can comb through?
Done and done. Glad bitmob decided to do this.
Chris Rose: Halo series. Each one of these games has suct many hours of my life away. Sorry can't pin point which one.
Chris Rose: Command and Conquer : Generals. Yet another time sucker.
Chris Rose : James Bond Golden Eye. My introduction to FPS's . A landmark in my gaming life.
Sorry I just can not pick just one. That's like asking me which one of my kids I love more! Lol. Kidding. This is a really hard question to answer, my brain hurts from thinking about this one.
@Chris Rose - Goldeneye came out in 1997, three years before this decade started. My choice: Phantasy Star Online.
Sorry I was still playing in 99. such a good game. Had a huge impact on me
I think "Action Game" could've been defined a little better. I Originally had Snake Eater there, but changed it out for my top game overall so I could give action game to god of war.
My Game of the Decade went to Zelda Windwaker. I just have so many fond memories of playing that game with my wife when we first started dating. Yes, it's a sappy answer, but it's true.
Aaron Rivers: Shadow of the Colossus
It was a very tough decision, but I'm sticking with my all-time fave: Vagrant Story. 8)
It's tough to go through an entire decade of content to pick out a best-of! I have a hard enough time picking out a top game or movie of 2009; one has to remember that some really good games came out that aren't still fresh in people's minds, which tends to be a problem with GOTY awards.
The game of the decade should be obvious, the first game that pops into your head, and the one brings back great memories. After 10 years, 7 consoles, and countless numbers of games, Zelda Windwaker is the first game that comes to mind and that was my choice.
I'm stumped by the first question. Why lead off a "best of the decade" survey by asking me to choose a game I hated?
Just to give a rundown.. 1. Half-Life 2 2. Pokemon: Gold and Silver 3. Halo: CE 4. Uncharted 2 (Wasn't sure if Super Mario Galaxy would be appropriate under this genre.) 5. Sims (and Hearts of Iron 2) 6. Pokemon: Gold and Silver 1 and 4 gave me some trouble as they were either low interest or too broad, but the rest went down quite smoothly.
Man, this was a tough survey. The "top action game" category was more difficult to procure an answer to than "game of the decade," to be honest. Also, #1 was a bit of a mindfuck. I eventually concluded that "title that let me down the most" would be the most relevant to answering that question. I feel like my brainstorming for these answers was a bit skewed, however, containing many titles from this generation - especially titles in the past year - as I had some trouble thinking of less notable sixth-generation titles. Finally, I'll tease everyone by saying that choosing between Halo 1, Metroid Prime, and BioShock for game of the decade was a very tough choice. :)
Man oh man, this one really got me thinking. It's much more difficult to pick one game from the last TEN years rather than the typical top game from just one year. Awesome survey though, took me quite a while to single-out my answers.
World of Warcraft. I loved Half-Life 2 but I I spent more time and enjoyed WoW more than any game.
I actually keep lists of my favorite games on each platform so it's not too hard to think back 10 years. However, even if a game is a favorite of mine I might not consider it for game of the decade. I know I played Tribes 2 more than anything else but it was too buggy when it was released and is essentially multi-player only. For a game of the decade I'd have to pick something with an interesting storyline.
I don't really think of games that captivated me as much as I think of games that were major time-sucks that gave a sensation of awesomeness. A great game like Tribes 2 didn't have much going for it in terms of a story mode, but the multiplayer was amazing. I still can't believe how much time I've logged into it.
@Kevin Yeah, I've played Tribes 2 way too much as well. Played a decent amount this past summer too but got a little frustrated and stopped for a while. I did even manage to stop for a whole year until I picked it up again this year. Part of the reason I stopped is because most of the people on my team stopped and I got tired of pubs. No other game matches the multi-player gameplay or features (great server browser, built-in team tags, simple demo recording, easy-to-use tournament mode, etc). I have played some Battlefield 2 which isn't bad but that game gets too much credit for things Tribes did first. Might I inquire as to what your T2 alias is?
WoW = best RPG HL2 = best shooter I have a really hard time figuring out my personal favorite action game in the last 10 years, but I played the shit out of Uncharted 2 and I feel like it's a (not THE) pinnacle in action gaming. I'm sure there are dozens of other games I'm forgetting about, but yeah..Uncharted 2 is a masterpiece. In my opinion. ;)
First Person Shooter: Half Life 2 RPG: World of Warcraft Action: Grand Theft Auto III Game of the Decade: Wii Sports I know it might sound controversial choosing Wii Sports as my favorite game of the decade, due to its un-hardcore gaming merits, but F that!, it was the best game for me. Everyone I know who has played it has loved it-- everyone. That really deserves something and it introduced a whole new console experience. Brilliant job Nintendo :)
Hey, nothing wrong with that choice, Josh. Wii Sports really was/is a landmark in gaming, and I'm sure it has brought many families and friends together (by the sounds of things, yours as well) who previously had no interest in our hobby.
For the action game, I cheated and put a fighting game, because it's a sub-genre I suppose. As for game of the decade: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney I thought I'd have a harder time sorting this one out, but the choice just felt right.
I laughed because Halo 3 was my game of the year then I read the results and it was the answer to the first question twice.
