Community Activity: This Is My Nostalgia

ARTICLE TOOLS

For quite some time now, I’ve wanted to go back and revisit one of my favorite games, and I’m sure I am not alone in that thought. Therefore, I think it would be a great community activity for everyone to go back and play their respective favorite game and write about it here on Bitmob. This would allow us to get to know each other’s tastes in a way other than a trite Top (insert arbitrary number here) list.

The way you write about your game I leave up to you. Maybe a reflection on your own nostalgia or how your feelings may have changed as the years have passed by. With the amazing diversity in both writing styles and tastes within the Bitmob community, I believe this could lead to a great amount of content for us all.

Personally, I have decided on replaying Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals for SNES.  Although I consider several other games to be contenders for my favorite, it has been quite some time since I played through Lufia II and having such fond memories of the game, I am curious as to whether it still holds up.

So I hope that some of you will join me in revisiting a part of our gaming past. So that everyone can easily find your posts, tag them simply with “favorite game”. I'm very much looking forward to reading all of your articles.

Great idea! Hmm, I'll have to think of a game to play.

Sounds awesome. I'm sure I'll be the only one to do Final Fantasy VII...

I'm definitely in. I'll have to think hard about the game to talk about though. But rest assured, Air Zonk won't be it... I've gone over that one enough already! :P

Mine would be Castlevania: Symphony of the Night or Mega Man 2. Unfortunately my PS2 DREs like a motherfucker and my NES just stopped working. Hmmm... If only I had a 60 GB PS3. Stupid Sony.

I do believe I shall take part in this.I think I'll write about the first God of War.Is there a time limit on when this has to be done?Because I can't play GoD until my sister brings me it back from New York around the 11th.

Ultan - funny, I just ordered the GoW collection and had it sent to my sister in New York as well. This is a tall order Derek, given that we are all excited about so many new games that we all probably just bought. But I think it's an intriguing idea so I'll see if I can squeeze in an old game or two this month.

I'd say we can just make this an activity for anytime this month. Maybe if enough people write something we can pull everything together at the end with some kind of post with links to everyone's articles.

Can mine be Borderlands even though I am currently playing it? :) Don't really have time to dwell on old games when I got this shiny like new one still only half played. ;D

@Toby Well you have a whole month, don't give up hope! Also glad to hear that I'm not the only one who isn't done with Borderlands yet.

I actually was writing a piece sort of related to this...unfortunately one of the discs of the game I was writing about decided to shit itself to death.

Argh, just too many good games, and if I name Chrono Trigger, Jason will probably protest. :P Megaman 2 or Super Metroid, anyone?

@Kevin Either of those two games could make for a great article. I can see two very different types of write-ups coming from those.

Derek: I don't know how on earth you would find time now. :) I still have a ton of fall titles to wrap up! If I had time (which I don't), I'd love to get caught up on Muramasa, Mass Effect, and some other more recent titles. I wish I could do your project, though. That'd be so much fun. I think I would maybe Final Fantasy 6...I'd love to revisit that someday.

@Shoe It's very simple when you don't have a job/money to buy new games. I still have Borderlands/Sacred 2 to finish, but I've been wanting to go back and play Lufia II for a while and I figured why not turn it into something for Bitmob?

We don't have to finish this old game, right? That's not gonna happen this month.

I second Daniel's question. I'd love to power through Shining Force 2 in a day, but I've only managed to make a small dent in it so far.
