I found out about this game from IndieCade Interviews Part 2 and I was immediately intrigued. I've heard of ARGs before (Alternate Reality Games -- for a definition, please read the interview) and I even participated in one briefly before dropping out because I could not devote enough time to it. I was excited about Deep Sleep Initiative because it was self-contained and I could solve it on my own time.
I visited www.dreamersoftenlie.com , downloaded the digital copy of the journal, and immediately plunged in to what was possibly the most entertaining two hours of my life. I don't want to give too many details here because the developer claims there are multiple paths to solving this game, but what followed was a thoroughly enjoyable experience that involved my own personal email account, visiting numerous websites (some real, and some seemingly real), solving Flash and Quicktime based puzzles (you will need both of these programs to play) and hacking into the personal files of the characters in the game.
I hesitate to say any more about this game publicly because I truly don't want to ruin it for anyone who is interested in playing it. However, I would love to discuss strategies, tips, and paths other people may have taken through this game. So, if you're inclined to give it a shot, please shoot me an email on Gmail. My username there is 'gungnir'.
I'm very interested in what the rest of you think.
Thanks.
-Jay
