Discussion Topic: Going all the way

Wondering through the vast areas of borderlands I begin to see a light. Not the light from hitting my enemy with fire, shock, or corrosive weapons. Knowing I am about to go all the way I stop near a save point and hit the menu button right in the middle of the controller.

Looking at the trophies I have gathered so far in the game makes me smile. Now one would say I want to be a completionist for this game. It is kinda funny as I have not ever really completed a single 360 or PS3 game for trophies or chieves. Also my Madden 06 1000/1000 does not count since I simulated 29 years on the 360.

Now I only strive to get all the trophies for Borderlands as out respect to the people who made the game. Not that I like everything, but it is the fact I enjoy this game. Which comes to the question for today.

What game makes you want to go all the way and get all the Trophies or Achievements for and why? If you just like getting 100 % (Dan Hsu) what 100 % was the one that made you the proudest.

Civilization Revolution is really drawing me into this mindset. The achievements are like marks of skill. Sure, I can play and win matches as every civilization, but can I do it at Deity level? Games that gradually increase in difficulty and have achievements to match are the ones I find myself returning to over and over. I'm still working on completing CivRev...

I've only gotten every Achievement/Trophy on two games: Call of Duty 4, because the game was just so much fun; and also Linger in Shadows, a neat little PS3 interactive-art game that was really interesting and easy to obtain all the Trophies. I'm with you Toby, Borderlands is an incredible game.

I know there's no way I'm ever going to finish a disc-based game 100%, but I'd love to beat BioShock one more time and gather the last of those trophies.

I generally don't try to 100% any one game. I play the game for as long as I enjoy it and usually until the natural completion of the story / narrative. The times I have trekked towards 100% in any given were either when the achievement system offered some new fun way to play the game or if I was still enjoying the game enough to keep at it. The most recent example of this for me was AC2. I enjoyed the movement of Ezio around the cities enough on it's own to justify the collection achievements and every other one of them naturally sprung from that.

Borderlands is an awesome game. I went through it with my roommate, but he lost interest and I'm not sure if I'll plow through the last 5 levels to get to level 50 alone or not yet. I never got into the achievement/trophy thing, but I do want to get to 50 in borderlands. Such a good game. You know I just finished Dragon Age and after beating the final boss I saw that I had seen 96% of the world, but only completed 54% of the game. I didn't understand people saying it's an 80 hour RPG, since I finished in 40 hours, so I guess I missed another 40 hours and 46% of the game somewhere. lol.

It's "HSU" not "Shu"! :) Last games I 100%: Bioshock and Defense Grid. I tried for Marvel Ultimate Alliance but only got about 1150 out of 1250, if I recall. :(
