Dear BitMobbers,

Father's Day is about to be upon us this weekend.  If you would like to tribute a gaming moment you shared with your father please comment.  I would like to share two moments with you.  The first is one with my father and the other is one with my daughter.

When I was in 4th grade my dad got me a Nintendo Entertainment System.  We might have not been richest, but I loved this device since I played it every day.  Because I was lazy back then one day my dad smashed my NES on the pavement.  It taught me one valuable lesson to clean my room more.  Years later after I though he would not ever let me have another game system I walk in to find a SNES on my bed with only Super Mario World.  Being a kid that day was awesome, but chores had to get done.

The real special moment with my dad didn't come till christmas one year.  At christmas time I would go around the house snooping to see what I got.  This was right about the time N64 was just released and all my friends had one.  Well my parents went to an auction like normal and locked there door.  Only one reason why they locked there door since it normally remains open it they got presents.  Picking the lock with a hanger I open the closet and find presents galore.  This day I shut the closet and leave the room after locking it.  Days past as I scower the house for tape, snake bite kit and gloves.  Weekend rolls around and parents go out to some yard sales and food shopping.

This time I bring my sister with me to open her gifts as well.  Taking the scapel out of the snake bite kit we slowly cut the invisible tape on one side of the package.  My first box I revealed Star Fox 64.  Hurried up and put it back the way I found it with tape and all.  After leaving the room it was hard not to say anything or to do anything involving gaming at this time.  it finally happened and christmas arrived.

I was awake all night thinking about the N64 waiting for me under that tree.  Star Fox was calling out to me to shoot down some baddies and protect Slippy at all costs.  At the crack of dawn I run into the living room where my dad is sitting sipping on his coffee and tells me to wake up the other one.   Hurring to wake up my sister we both rush back to open our gifts.  I choose the first box I see and open it which I though was Star Fox and turned out to be Golden Eye 64 from rare.  I ran over to my dad gave him a big hug told him I loved him.  Seeing the glow in his eyes and the smile on his face that day was joyful for both he and I.

My daughter and Me Christmas 08'

This is a picture of my daughter and me from 2008.  Our camera sucks with dates as you can tell.

Since we have been in Indiana my daughter has developed a love for gaming.  So I was sitting down playing Viva Pinata: Trouble in paradise one day when my daughter walks in the bedroom.  She climbed up on the masterbed and sits down take the strategy guide like normal and just watches.  Guiding me on the animals she wants in my garden.  So about 30 minutes go by and she looks over and says, " I want to be a gamer just like you daddy."  Taking her in my arms I tell her that I am proud of her.  Yelling for my wife to come in I tell my daughter to repeat what she just said.  As she is repeating this I get blamed for telling her to say that.  My daughter then tells my wife, " I really want to be a gamer like daddy."

Those were my two best father gaming moments.  So please share your father gaming moments.  Then on fathers day have a great time with your father or the husband of your children.

         Cheers,

                  Toby (ATC)

haha. When my daughter is old enough to say that my wife will probably hit me. My only gaming memory of my father is when our video games were still down in their bedroom and I walked in one time only to catch him playing through our rented copy of Road Rash on Genesis. That was the only time I've ever seen him touch a video game and he denys it to this day.
