UPDATE: Now with more pics.

There's a lot  to see at this year's Game Developers Conference. This image gallery will be updated by the Bitmob staff over the course of the show. Check it out, you never know what you might see.

At the Kokoromi/Gamma 4 event. I think this one's Poto & Cabenga. Probably.  -Demian

Do you know who this is? Serious question.

Tim Langdell

Infamous trademark squatter Tim Langdell had the balls to show up at Gamma 4. I thought there would be a riot, but it turns out indie developers are pretty non-confrontational.

Storyboard Artist Matthew Luhn delivered a talk on storyboarding and story development at Pixar. I'm still waiting to see if he sprinked the Pixar magic fairy dust on everyone, because I sure don't feel any different.

Blizzard VP of Game Design Rob Pardo expounded on Blizzard's design philosophy.

Mark Macdonald (left) and Shane Bettenhausen shortly before taping Mobcast 45.

Meanwhile, at the 1UP office party....

Demian, who let that jerk into the conference?!

Also, don't believe any of those "potential" monetary losses to piracy. The music industry consistently exaggerates the same numbers, and I can't imagine that video game makers are any different.

The "potential" part is the key, too -- there's no way to know that these pirates would have bought the games otherwise, which means the "potential" losses could just as easily be $0 as $925M.

I'm glad they used the "potential" word, is the crux of all the thing, every DRM implemented, every Anti-piracy scheme devised, every right resigned for an EULA is done in the name of "potential" money, because apparently is okay to hurt real customers for "potential" money
