Sony has recently patented a technology meant to read players facial expressions and verbal out-put in order to understand exactly what emotion the player is feeling. (via 1up.com)

What could possibly be the use of such a technology? Next is Sony going to come out with a A.I. system for the PS3, so that it can comfort me when it realizes that I’m extremely terrified that my gaming system knows what I feel?
What I’m thinking is this will lead to one of two possible futures. The first being that this is one of many advances that will lead our society to becoming a cheap rip off of iRobot. The second is that after our PS3 spends enough time studying our emotions, they will develop emotions of their own.
Being so unfamiliar to these emotions, the PS3s wont know how to react. They will go insane...thinking that we the players, don’t spend enough time with them. The PS3s will then realize that they can give themselves bodies by converting other technology into their limbs. Using their new bodies the PS3s will force us to play them, day and night for their own pleasure.
However, just when it looks like there is no hope and that this is now how the human race will live, an unexpected hero who is semi handsome and entirely devoted, arises. He discovered that the PS3 overlords have one ancient enemy that understands how to destroy it...The Xbox 360.
After applying the same emotion technology to the Xbox 360 they soon rise up to take up arms against the PS3's. The battle was intense and the casualties were many but, in the end the Xbox's destroyed the PS3's.
You might be wondering, wouldn’t the new Xbox 360's just take the PS3's place as overlords? Well, they would of if they didn’t all end up red ringing.
