Impulse Gaming

I may be the only gamer who does this, but I know some may think about doing it.  There were games I didn't want, but I still bought any ways.  Really though I think it is an impulse thing.

Mainly I do this with XBLA/PSN games just cause I have money and want to spend it.  My latest example would be that I bought Outpost Kaloki x and all the DLC.  Really I wanted Kudo & TMNT: Turtles in time.  Not sure why I do it, but maybe it is that feeling of getting a new game.  So far I have been fortunate that I have not spent my PSN money.  Really afraid with Fat Princess delayed I will impulse buy this week to get Battlefield 1943.  Now do I want BF:1943?  Not at all, but it is the fact I have money and want to spend it.

Before I got my PSN most of my XBLA games were impulse buys that I don't touch anymore.  I don't think anyone else would buy Dominoes, Double D Dodgeball or Boom Boom Rocket.  Yes I impulse game, but I am glad when I do full retail games I only impulse rent the games.

I think many companies realize that flashy games will get people to buy.  Not sure why, but it seems to work on some people like me.   Now does anyone else have any impulse gaming stories?

Steam's the source of my impulse buys. Whenever Steam has one of their crazy half-off sales, I end up buying too many games. Recently, I couldn't resist Steam's prices for World of Goo, Heroes of Might and Magic V and its expansions, and Port Royale 2. I don't make many impulse buys on the console -- most of those came from Virtual Console releases for the Wii.

Toby, while waiting for Fat Princess, and avoiding impulse buys, why not pick up The Orange Box for as little as $10 and join me in some TF2? My impulse gaming shame: I bought Aquatopia......:'(

The one time I did that was pretty bad: World of Warcraft. I got that a couple years back after spending months laughing at my friends who played it and calling it World of Warcrap, which was pretty dumb to say. It's even worse now that I wrote it. Anyway, ended up spending way to many waking hours on that thing.
