I'll be honest with you. One year ago, when I first learned what Bitmob was all about, I thought that it was a cool idea that would ultimately end up failing. Boy, was I wrong! I was here from the beginning, and at one point, was posting weekly. However, for the last long while I have been too silent.
Shortly after the 1UPocalyps, Bitmob was born. My hopes of one day having a job in the video game enthusiast press had been saved... but shortly after Bitmob was born school started. I was entering sophomore year and though I promised I would keep writing for Bitmob, my attention wavered to more common teenager things.
An article every now and then was not enough to satisfy my want to write. I started feeling like I had somehow betrayed Bitmob. Despite being given a place where all game writing is accepted and even viewed by ex-EGM editors, I begun to pass up a perfect opportunity. This was always on my mind when ever I would get an idea for a Bitmob article and just pass it up because I had to study, but the sad fact is... High school is a bitch, and being a teenager is kind of a bitch. And those bitch things are time consuming.
I haven't forgotten Bitmob and I never will. I still read articles and occasionally I comment, but where I truly am active is in the Twitter streams! Lance, Jasmine, Evan, Jeff (Uncle Grubbs) Sm4kxd, ververdan (... huh, I guess I don't know your guys real names... sorry bout that.) and Acronkyoung (I refuse to think of you as Alex! I like the your twitter name just fine). I think of them all as some kind of family. I guess I am a perfect example of todays youth being raised by the Internet. Bitmob gave me a sense of belonging and a group of people that I know as friends.
I have a lot to thank Bitmob for. Not only did it give me friends but I think the reason I have a job now is because of my early articles here. I used my writings on Bitmob and my few guest spots on podcasts as content on my resume. And guess what, it got me a job! I write news over at Kombo.com (Just like Uncle Grubbs!) and finally have an article-a-day mentality.
Bitmob has kept my hopes for my dream career alive and I hope one day I can be working for Shoe. Until then, I will try to post more articles on this wonderful web site. And who knows? One of the bigger ideas I have had bouncing around in my head may pan out (If it does then you can expect to see a lot more of me).
I guess what I really want to say here is this: Thank you Bitmob and thank you Bitmobers. I'm sorry that I have been gone so long. You don't know what it has meant to me... Is it pathetic that I actually got a little bit teary eyed while writing this?
