Landing a Spaceship On a Planet in Real-Time

I didn't know much about Infinity -- an upcoming sci-fi massively multiplayer role-playing game -- until I saw this video showing off the title's "seamless planetary engine." It allows an in-game ship to land on a planet from space (and take off later for the great beyond) in real-time -- something that I don't believe has ever been done before in a polygonal game.

How cool is that? I've wanted to do this in a sci-fi game for a long, long time.

I was already keeping my eye on this game. This is actually part of a longer video, the first part is very cool aswell, he's flying in space and I was thinking: "ah nice background of stars you got there.." AND THEN HE CLICKED ON ONE. My jaw literally dropped. That was not a background picture, that was the infinity engine drawing stars you can fly to.I'm very curious to see how this game develops.

Whoa, I hadn't heard about this one, either. Interested.
