Leaked Video: Multiplayer Mercenaries Sequel

We just discovered leaked video footage of a new multiplayer-focused Mercenaries game, entitled Mercs Inc (working title):

We confirmed with an anonymous source that this internal trailer is a few months old and is indeed real. While EA has not officially greenlit this game, it's currently in pre-production at EA LA. About two dozen or so former Pandemic developers who were not laid off with the studio's recent closing have moved over and are still working on this project. (*Updates after the jump*)

Video poster Dorian Compo describes Mercs, Inc. as a "multiplayer sandbox game," but it is unknown whether it will contain an open-world single-player campaign as well, like the previous titles in the series.

Special thanks to Bitmob community member Ben Maltz-Jones for the tip.

UPDATE: The official announcement just went out. You can read it on Pandemic's message boards (it doesn't say much...just acknowledging the existence of the game).

I'm surprised to see that this is (potentially) happening, considering all the speculation implying that the relatively bad sales of Mercenaries 2 was a major factor in the closing of Pandemic. I enjoyed Mercs. 2, though, so hopefully this'll be a fun game.

Way to tip Ben Maltz-Jones and looks interesting. Makes me think on how the campaign will work also.
