It feels great to be back after the holidays. I played lots of games, ate lots of food, and slept lots of ZZZs. I only have one resolution for the News Blips in 2012: No more than one reference to a Raul Julia film per post. As you will see, I’m off to a splendid start.
News Blips:

A Street Fighter X Tekken screenshot on the title’s Xbox Live Marketplace page reveals that M. Bison and Ling Xiaoyu will make the roster of playable characters. In the photo, above Heihachi throwing an elbow into Dhalsim’s grill, are the portraits of the previously unannounced brawlers. Ling Xiaoyu was introduced in Tekken 3 and has been in every entry in the series since. M. Bison was the final boss in the original Street Fighter 2: The World Warriors and has been a playable character in most of the Street Fighter games beginning with Street Fighter 2: Champion Edition. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that he made the cut. After all, the day M. Bison made it into Street Fighter X Tekken was the most important day of your life, but for him...it was Tuesday. [Shoryuken]
BioWare has one employee investigating “logical extensions” for their properties on mobile platforms. In other words, one of gaming’s most beloved developers isn’t diverting a lot of its attention to jump on the iOS and Android bandwagons. That won’t prevent EA, which owns BioWare, from having a go at expanding the properties in wholly illogical ways with one of its other entities. “That’s one of the biggest benefits of being at EA,” BioWare Creative Lead Greg Zeschuk told Joystiq. “We have EA Interactive, who does tons and tons of mobile stuff.” I believe that means that we can all look forward to scanning planets for resources on our smartphones very soon.
The Indie Gala bundle gets a time extension and a bonus game. It’s all the rage to compile the work of a few independent developers and sell them under a name-your-own-price structure. This latest instance has apparently just crossed a check point, because it’s earned a multiple-day time extension. Where were those when I was pumping quarters into Daytona USA by the fistful?
