I'm in that awkward moment where I may actually buy and play Star Wars: The Old Republic. I don’t really play MMOs. I know that if I wait a week the urge will probably pass, but I’ve just opened Origin regardless. Wish me the wisdom to make correct life choices.

News Blips:

News Blips: Modern Warfare 3's DLCInfinity Ward is readying Modern Warfare 3’s first DLC for January 24. Perhaps the most alluring aspect of Activision’s $50 Call of Duty bonus program is the early access to monthly downloadable add-ons. Well, unless you are on PS3 and PC, in which case you still have to wait for Activision CEO Bobby Kotick to go and cash his timed-exclusivity check from Microsoft. Currently, that January 24 date only applies to Xbox Live. Likely, gamers that paid for the subscription on those less-privileged platforms will still get early access relative to those who didn’t, but this opens up the possibility for non-Elite users on PS3/PC to have to wait an extended amount of time before they gain access. If the Xbox 360 Elites must get the content before the Elites on PS3/PC, and then the Elites on PS3/PC must get the DLC before non-Elites...well, the first DLC should be available for everyone sometime around the end of the Mayan calendar.

The Thor table for Zen Pinball is available now for mobile devices. Score chasing shouldn’t be relegated to consoles. A true wizard of the flippers should have the opportunity to reach a new high score whenever the inspiration strikes him. Almost without fail, this inspiration will strike him when Elton John's version of the Pinball Wizard comes on the oldies station. Thankfully, Zen Pinball is making Marvel’s Thor table available as an in-app purchase for $1.99 on both iOS and Tegra-enabled Android devices.

Namco plans to release Tekken 3D Prime Edition on February 14. When Nintendo announced the 3DS, I don’t think anyone was predicting it would become a haven for skill-intensive 3D fighting games, and yet here I am informing the world about Tekken’s 3DS debut. The developer of this King of the Iron Fist Tournament claims to have locked the frame rate in at 60, which should make for a gorgeous three-dimensional experience. Now that we’ve had a Street Fighter and are getting this game, can we get Street Fighter X Tekken 3D? It would be great to suck at that game in 3D.
