An NBA Jam for the 21st century is exciting, but hopefully they leave the big head mode back in the 1990s.

News Blips:

NBA Jam Wii

EA is busy working on a Wii-exclusive NBA Jam game. The publisher did not provide many details outside of the game's confirmed existence, which puts recent rumors of the revival of the series to rest. If President Barack Obama is a hidden character in the game, expect him to have some beefed up stats  -- that guy has game. [Destructoid]

At last week's Consumer Electronics Show, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings commented that the likelihood of a Netflix streaming service ending up on Nintendo are "excellent." His word choice of "Nintendo" as opposed to the "Wii" is interesting, as it feeds fuel to the rumor-fire that the service is being withheld until Nintendo releases the unconfirmed Wii HD. Hey, if you're gonna stream movies from home, go big or go...home. [Gizmodo]

The producer of the Metal Gear Solid movie, Mike De Luca, is doubtful that the big-screen adaptation will move forward. In an interview with Collider (via 1UP), De Luca lamented over the difficulties of coordinating with different parties and the notion that, regardless of the quality of the film, it's unlikely to increase sales of the already hugely popular games. As a result, getting things to fall into place while working with the "video game companies" for this film isn't really happening. Isn't there already enough CG cut-scene footage in the series to just string it all together for a makeshift film? [1UP]

In a CES 2010 panel on adult entertainment and its effects in the Internet era, porn star Ron Jeremy noted that video games are "far worse" for children than pornography. Particularly, he claimed that "studies have found that violent video games are much bigger a negative influence (than porn) on kids." Is he referring to video game violence or perhaps the gay elf sex scene in Dragon-Age: Origins? [Joystiq]

Ron Jeremy is just mad because he couldn't be 1-1 in Super Mario Bros.

Interesting how the MGS film producer expressly stated that the movie adaptation aimed to expand the franchise and increase sales. It should be obvious, but I never viewed game to movie cross-overs in that way. I will from now on, though.

@Spencer, he said the movie was unlikely to increase game sales, sort of just pointing out how things work.
