Retro Ads: Gauntlet Arcade Game

I've seen a lot of classic arcade cabinets in my travels in the central U.S., but I've rarely encountered a Gauntlet machine. They are practically mythical beasts here in Arkansas, but every time I see one, I end up dropping several dollars just to satisfy my desire for primitive dungeon-crawling.

Gauntlet Arcade

The most notable aspect is the four-person multiplayer. I can't say how well the cabinets handle such group play; I imagine it turns into an elbowy mess after 5 minutes.

I can still hear the voice telling me: Valkyrie is about to die.....

There is something timeless about that overhead perspective...  one of the first games I remember seeing when I was younger and going, "Whoa, what's that all about."   I love seeing these old ads.  Arcade cabinet art is a lost, well, art.

I use to have one of these machines. Bought it for $50 about 13 years ago. Then sold it back to the guy I bought it from for $100 5 years later.

Good times.
