Every so often I go to YouTube and search for random video game-related videos -- then I share them with you to punish you.
Today’s random search: video game music performed live. I wasn’t looking for the professionals that you’d hear on the Video Games Live tour; I wanted regular folks paying homage to their favorite game music.
Blindfolded Pianist
Plays Super Mario
Themes:
Most accomplished pianists don’t look at the keys much,
if at all, while they play, so the blindfolded aspect of this performance
didn’t impress me much. What did impress me, however, was his ability to play
fantastic renditions of the series' many popular themes. Be sure to watch at
the 4:45 mark -- dude goes off.
More music after the jump!
Metal Gear
Solid Theme on Guitar:
Plagiarized or not, this is one of my favorite video game
theme songs. This guy adds to the already-awesome song by playing the main
melody on his sweet-looking guitar.
“Still Alive” Ukulele:
This isn’t the best version of “Still Alive,” and the way the girl
stares into the camera kind of creeps me out. That said, she’s definitely into
the performance and I enjoyed watching it.
Loco Roco
Harmonica:
Yep, it’s the Loco Roco theme song on the harmonica. That part
kind of sucks, but 45 seconds in she starts to sing, and that’s actually kind of
cool.
Dr. Robotnik's Theme Song on
Accordion:
Finally you bastards can stop emailing me asking to hear Dr.
Robotnik’s theme song played on the accordion. All future Sonic/Accordion-related
requests should be sent to this guy...who is actually taking the aforementioned requests
for some reason.
