It's now been a full year since I found the 1up blog post that announced Dan Hsu's and Demian Linn 's new website, Bitmob. Since then, I have encountered some great writers, great editors, and great people. Personally, I feel like I have really improved as a writer.  In a year, Bitmob has changed me for the better, but the real appeal for me is the community.
I have been a Bitmob member since day two, and I have found some really great people who have many talents: Andrew Hiscock is a master of the limerick, Jeff Grubb pens a mean web comic, and Derek Lavigne took my podcast idea (that I was nowhere near capable of putting into action myself) and ran with it, creating a great way to showcase our community. Here at Bitmob, I feel there is a much more professional atmosphere than at other sites, with debates not devolving to deranged ranting; controversial posts always inspire the best conversations.

While I may not end up in the games journalism field, I feel that Bitmob has allowed me and many others to grow as writers and as people. Many of the Bitmob members are extremely talented. Here are some of my favorite articles this year:

Dudebro II: The Birth of a Meme and How NeoGAF Began Its First Game by Andrew Hiscock

The Not-So-Secret History of Video Game Peripherals by Jeffrey Michael Grubb

Uncharted 2: Already Game of the Year by Mike Minotti

Notice how none of these articles are by the original Bitmob staff. That is a testament to the talent of our community. All modesty put aside, here are some of my favorite articles I wrote this year:

Final Fantasy X: A Flawed Masterpiece

Top Three Reasons Why Lists Are Successful

MMO Man: An Interview With Massively's Shawn Schuster

Happy birthday Bitmob, and here's to another year of great, community-driven journalism!

I'm not sure how to fix the top here, it seems to always double space itself and mess itself up no matter what I do...

Copy the text to your browser's search field, then copy+paste back into the Bitmob editor. That'll strip the formatting.

Awesome post, and good job at giving the year in review idea some focus!

I had no idea you came up with the idea for a community podcast! Who would have thought that the idea would turn into the awesomeness that is Pixel Revolt!
