Every Mario Kart iteration brings with it a plethora of power-ups. Instead of waiting to see what Nintendo has in store for us in Mario Kart 7, I decided to come up with a few ideas of my own.

Is it fair to form opinions about game journos just from the pieces they write?

Even though we know very little about the new Smash Bros. game announced at E3 2011, why not have some fun and speculate about possible characters?

With the rise of the 3DS, Nintendo is slowly phasing out it's previous handheld beast, but the DS appears to be going out with a bang with games like Monster Tale.

"Interesting observation: Anyone notice how there hasn't been a single female viewpoint/comment in this entire thread?

I think it's a little weird to be discussing how opressed and objectified women are at such length, without a woman's perspective."

"Sim City for SNES is hands down my favorite version of Sim City, in no small part to its soundtrack."

"Little disappointing this is the first time my name has been on a Bitmob article for months. Will definitely start writing more soon.

Also, extremely disappointed no one mentioned Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as the best video game soundtrack of all time. Someone should really write an article on its brilliance. Oh wait, I already did a long time ago: http://bitmob.com/articles/concept-album-sonic-the-hedgehog-2"

"As a fellow midwesterner, I feel your pain. While walking to class every day at a college campus affords me a rare Street Pass every now and then, I don't much get to use the feature and all that comes with it.

Street Pass is designed and tailored for the Japanese market, thriving in its high population density, but for most of the U.S., we're just not conducive to the magic of Street Pass.

Chris is right: conventions are where to go if you're looking for passes (something I hope to experience first hand at this year's PAX East,) but for now, we'll just have to take the small victories where we can get them Josh. Cool story. "

"Asura's Wrath is something I would consider to be akin to video game junk food, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Though not moving the medium forward in the slightest, its goal was to be fun to play: a noble goal and one I think it generally succeeds at from my limited experience with it.

Critics will bash it for being more or less an interactve movie (something a game like Heavy Rain avoided with its branching choices,) but sometimes, that's exactly what you want.

But what keeps me from pulling the trigger on Asura is the result of that lack of choice and exploration: shortness and low replayability. With SSX just hitting shelves, and Mass Effect 3 coming in the next week, it's hard to justify an Asura's Wrath purchase when my money could be spent so much more effectively.

That said, Asura will certainly find its way onto my list of games to pick up when they're cheap and I have more time on my hands: a list that includes L.A. Noire, Bulletstorm, and Saint's Row The Third."

"This is really well done (which pisses me off, since I wanted to write about it.)

I think it's important to re-iterate that Double Fine is a well-respected developer with a small, but loyal fanbase. This campaign isn't feasible for many developers who are either too big for us to sympathize with or too small for us to even notice.

You made a very interesting point when it comes to "investing" in these types of projects, and what the expectations of that could be. It seems to be a matter of both dollar value and perspective. As an average Double Fine fan, I see my $30 contribution as more or less a pre-pre-order (of which you nicely detailed many of the issues that could raise on its own,) but when someone starts to pledge $10,000, $20,000, $50,000+, I have to think that the line between donation and investment start to blur a little.

As much as I trust and love Double Fine, I have to wonder what impact this might have on the industry as a whole."

"Took you long enough. And no mention of Crysis or its sequel on your list? I'm surprised.

Anyway, glad you got around to doing this. It's like you're really on Bitmob now. Hope you catch a front page soon."

"I'm obligated to mention Psychonauts and the Mother series, but with those out of the way, I can mention some of my other favorite dormant franchises.

Sunset Riders, Glover, Balloon Fight, Captain Commando, Ice Climbers, and Snowboard Kids. Obviously, I really like silly characters."

"Psychonauts is my favorite game of all time, and for good reason (many of which you've laid out here.) I try to go back and play it every year (I sadly slacked off last year, a mistake I will not make twice.)

I think for anyone who's ever played through The Milkman Conspiracy, the phrase "2nd-person platforming" makes total sense and is the best way to put it, but Chris does make a good point that without experiencing it for yourself, it can be a little difficult to wrap you brain around.

It's great to see new blood writing on Bitmob and even better to see them discuss excellent, deserving games like Psychonauts. Hopefully someday soon, we'll be writing articles about it sequel (my fingers have been crossed for seven years now"

"As a semi-serious theory, what if Shy Guys were all part of a Noh performance (a classical Japanese play where actors often wear masks? Might be a stretch, but the Wikipedia article is pretty interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noh"
