I've been heavy into games since I got my NES when I was 3. Been a big time Nintendo fan all my life, mostly Zelda and some Mario games, and I take my DSi with me just about everywhere these days.
I also got hooked on Halo in college, and am now a huge fan - from my Halo Edition 360 to the giant Master Chief stand-up I have in my living room (ah, the perks of working in retail).
Big on old-school games (NES is still hooked up).
Never owned a Playstation console.

Some go the way of The Empire Strikes Back. Others follow the path blazed by Attack of the Clones. This game chose poorly.

"Glad I got a good number :p Excellent write-up, and I'm looking forward to checking out the others that I didn't have a chance to read through."

"I was a huge fan of the Nintendo Power special feature that gave a complete walkthrough of Crystalis. That was such a fantastic game, but had always seemed too daunting and confusing to figure out without a little gentle guidance. Having the walkthrough allowed me to experience it fully, and, though it didn't make me a hardcore RPG fan, it did give me great appreciation for Crystalis."

"Is it really that much to ask for to see Crosby knocked on his ass, even in virtual form? Someone take the guy out.
Fan bias aside, cool stuff. I'm glad they do more than just start a random 7 game series and hit "Sim" and see what happens."

"Sweet! I'd just stare at that all day long, going, "Oh! I know that one. Oh! I've been there," and babbling other nonsensical-type stuff. How big is it? (was trying to think of a non-dirty-sounding way to ask that but it just wasn't happening, so I'm just gonna throw it out there.)"

"In addition to the pizza grease and pressing up against the TV, one time at college we decided to "upgrade" our NES zapper by attaching a laser pointer to the side (via the miracle of duct tape) and giving it a sight. Freshmen ingenuity at its finest, right there."

@Andrew: The wacky D-pad is a bit weird, and it does work occasionally in the games I mentioned, but in platformers it was usually easier to just play as though the red thing didn't exist and it was just a bigger, normal D-pad.

@Brett: The good ol' days, huh?
@ Keith: Yeah, that one's definitely seen better days. I used to have electrical tape around the bottom part but it never lasted very long. Guess that's what we get for wrapping the cord around the controller all those years.
Thanks for the feedback, guys!"

"Great write-up. I've been a GameFly subscriber for a few years now, and I love it. I, too, am stuck inside my franchises and the big games I want to play, but this lets me check out other stuff that I otherwise wouldn't want to drop $30-$60 on. It's funny you mention it bringing out your "casual gamer," too, as one of my favorite rentals was Burnout: Paradise. I'm not a racing fan, but I enjoyed bombing around the streets, crashing into stuff, and racking up a few extra Gamerscore points. I played it for 3 hours, and sent it back in the morning. I hope you continue to find gamer happiness with the service!"
