Everything went better than expected.jpg :D"
Besides, this entire argument is finished anyway. Bioware are not changing the ending. They're giving us an extended cut, which I personally do appreciate and look forward to. All of the "retake" people should just accept it and chill out a bit."
I'll speak blatantly here. A petition to change the ending of a story because you don't like it is incredibly immature and just plain ridiculous. I'm a huge fan of Mass Effect, and I actually enjoyed the balls-to-the-wall ending. I could've used more closure, yes, and the Normandy scene still doesn't really make sense to me, but overall I was satisfied. I completely agree with you on your "army of gods" point - realistically we should be astounded that Shepard, one tiny, insignificant human being, was able to defeat a race of 37 million year old machines at ALL. Hell, half of it was blind luck; nobody knew what the Crucible would do when fired. In my mind, Shepard did what he came to do, which was to stop the Reapers by any means necessary. It's sad that such a huge toll was taken on Shepard and his crew personally, but they're just a handful of individuals. He just saved an entire GALAXY of people and allowed life and evolution to continue freely for the first time in millions of years. That's a pretty damn big thing.
I think it's embarassing that Bioware is stooping to this level, even if it is in the name of pleasing their fans. Admittedly, I'll be interested to see what they come up with. But like you said, we've all seen the ending, and it is what it is. Can't really change that fact."
I'll be quiet now."
Snarky comments aside, great article! I didn't know there was actually a term for this sort of thing! "
On a side note, I think that the Uncharted series has easily done the best job of presenting believable characters and relationships in a game I've played, despite the relationships themselves being non-interactive."
