Graphics Comparison (part two): God of War 2 vs. God of War Collection

On November 17, Sony will release God of War and God of War 2 as a compilation for the PlayStation 3. The most notable aspect of this $39.99 package is that the graphics have been re-mastered with anti-aliasing effects -- and now run at 720p at 60 frames-per-second.

That sounds great, but is the difference worth the money if you already own both games? Judge for yourself with these comparison shots between the original and re-mastered versions of God of War 2 (don't miss our God of War 1 comparison shots as well).

The PlayStation 2 shots were taken on a PS3 running at 720p via component cables. PS2 smoothing was enabled, and the upscaling was set to fullscreen. The in-game options were set to widescreen. The black borders in the PS2 versions were there when I played, so I left them in to give as accurate a comparison as possible. The PS3 screens were taken at the max resolution of 720p. I did not adjust the color or brightness settings for either version.

To recap: The screens with borders are from the PS2 version played on PS3; the full-screen shots are from the re-mastered game on PS3.

Considering that I haven't played either one of these games and considering that I don't have a PS3, but do plan on buying one before the years end. I do want very much yes.

Btw, I like the censors.

Thanks Marco, and congrats on being the first person to comment on the second part of this article! Everyone reads it, but everybody comments on the main page or on the God of War page. But you, you dare to be different!
