On November 17, Sony will release God of War and God of War 2 as a compilation for the PlayStation 3. The most notable aspect of this $39.99 package is that the graphics have been re-mastered with anti-aliasing effects -- and now run at 720p at 60 frames-per-second.
That sounds great, but is the difference worth the money if you already own both games? Judge for yourself with these comparison shots between the original and re-mastered versions of the God of War Collection.

I'd say it's definitely worth it, especially if you have an HDTV, looking at the larger screens. Plus the trophies and all that. Last time I checked both games were retailing for about 20 each at gamestop, too.
Thanks Aaron! I usually go searching for graphical comparisons elsewhere. I appreciate you taking the time to post this here.
The smoothness is certainly nice, and it does generally look better, but did they really need to massacre the contrast so much for anti-aliasing? I'm assuming these shots are from the same source so there's no reason the blacks are so much grayer (if that's not the case, never mind). But 720p at 60 fps would still make this the version to play.
I think the re-release is more about getting players new to the series caught up rather than wow current fans with the upgrade. Of course, I probably think that as I'll be taking this opportunity myself to see what's up prior to GoW3 coming out.
Dear Sony: Please do this for Shadow of the Colossus. Please please. I'll kill someone for you if you'd like.
Dear Sony: Please do this for Shadow of the Colossus. Please please. Just don't count on me killing anybody for it.
Dear Dan: I really hope you are kidding.
Anyways, I really think Sony will definetely do the same for Ico and Shadow of the Colossus right before the release of The Last Guardian. It would be the right thing to do for the fans and for those that missed on these great titles the first time.

I've never played the GOW series (I'm a gamer fresh out of retirement so I missed out on the whole PS2 thing). But judging from the screen-shots, the gameplay doesn look a great deal sharper. If I had enough time (and cash) to play both 360 and PS3 the same, I'd totally pick up a PS3 Slim and a copy of this collection.
