I take a little offense at Hsu calling out Hard Drivin' for bad graphics over Virtua Racing. C'mon, they were 5 years apart. :)
Personally, those late 80's/early 90's arcade driving games blew my mind. Hard Drivin', Stun Runner, Road Blasters, Outrun and the like into games like Virtua Racing, Daytona, Crusin' USA, etc.
Racing games as a whole are tough to go back to- graphically they suck, and it seems like every single racing game iterates on the feel in some way where newer games, even if they're not that good, feel better. That being said, Ridge Racer still feels great, and looks good enough to play.

But Burnout Paradise is the best."
