On Matthew Anfuso's  Diablo III adds lag to single-player
"Man, the more "protections" are added, the more I feel like we all suffer for it.

I was out of town during Beta Weekend, so I didn't have a chance to try it, and I share your concern about the lag. I primarily play hardcore characters, and lag was responsible for more than a few deaths in D2.

Hopefully, Blizz used this "stress test" to optimize the servers and prevent/minimize lag from happening post-release. Fingers crossed!"

"I feel your pain and see your side, Ed.  Could you have been more cautious?  Sure.  Could Sony have been more responsible and added the word "paid" before "activation"?  Absolutely.  Would have prevented almost all confusion.

While I give a nod to those who have mentioned cell-phone activations are never free, there are many examples of services which do not require paid activation.

Can you imagine the outcry if the well-known Netflix "free month trial" was only after a new customer paid one month in advance?  How about Hulu Plus?  There are many more examples.

Don't be bullied by those who are trying to should all over you.  I'd say you have a case."
