"re was some Zelda art from Nintendo Power way back, that I think hits on your Mononoke-art desire:

Gorgeous stuff, I'd love Zelda to evoke this kind of feel.
All your points are valid, but I'd say that Twilight Princess has a fairly compelling story in it's character interactions between Link & Midna.
I personally think Zelda should take a leap and think about changing it's formula and setting. Having Link roam about a modern city would be awesome. As cool as Midna was as well, Link needs to ditch the fairy-companion-form"

"on't think Games have quite gotten there yet, but MGS3 does prove there is definitely promise that has yet to be fully exploited. For as moving as the fight with The Boss was, her hamfisted monologue right before is rather inconsistent with the emotions you're writing about. If MGS3 could be made without all the corny jokes and ridiculous dialog expositions, then arguably it wouldn't be Metal Gear anymore, but you'll get a lot of these nay-sayers to change their minds. Personally, I like all of the corn. When I'm playing a 24-30 hour game, I need something to break up the nonstop murder and drama. If MGS was all serious all the time, I would probably shoot myself from depre"

"ike the post from the guy who contributed absolutely nothing to the conversation besides, "I won't buy this game because I don't like basketball." Who cares, buddy!
I happen to like little touches added to games like these - it helps with the realism. Me & the buddies were greatly amused the firs time we noticed LeBron chew his fingernails on the sidelines of NBA 2K9. It was a classic moment of awestruck w"

"acritic is a great indicator of gauging value. If a game averages 80-90 over the course of 50 reviews, it's probably worth looking into. If it averages 20, it should probably be forgotten. People shouldn't get hung up over semantics when things generally average out: for every 1UP/EGM review that gets converted too low, there's a PS3 or 360 fan-site that automatically rubberstamps a 10/10 onto reviews.
I don't blame people getting into a hizzy though, when Metacritic basically encourages scrutiny with it's strange conversions. I have a feeling that if they just boiled their obtuse scores down to simple recommendations like "try, buy or pass" that not nearly as many people would be"

"now you have to rep your zip code, but as charming as Omaha is, it's far to small and boring to set most video games. That said, there are plenty of games that have rural/suburban settings (like Bully) that would probably benefit from taking place in a real life town like Omaha or Fresno, CA.
Also, setting a video game in Mumbai, especially one with violence is probably a terrible idea thanks to the recent terrorists attacks there. If you want that a similar location that's rich with history and contrasts the bleak shanty towns with the rich and modern developments, I suggest Mexico City.
Tokyo is basically the NYC of Japan and kind of boring at this point. What would be great is some other famous but rarely used cities like Rome, Istanbul, Cairo, Sidney, Lima, Cape Town, etc. Basically, I would kill for more games that don't take place in either the US, Japan, or Europe durin"
