On Rob Savillo's  The Nintendo 3DS: Disappointment in three dimensions
"I feared that this would be the reality of the 3DS. Like most Nintendo handhelds though, I'm sure there is going to be a 2nd edition version that will be superior in every way and make you completely regret buying the first one. See Gameboy Color, Advance SP, DS Lite/DSi. Either that or we can hold out for an "optional" accessory that might address those issues."

On Andrew Lynes'  How Character Names Change the Narrative Experience
"I am fortune enough to have a 3-letter (Rob) capable name. Arcade-styled high scores? ROB. I've never, ever,  renamed a character that may be referred to in conversation by anyone that may use the wrong name. I think you could rename your characters in Lufia or Final Fantasy, never did that either.

Is there really anyone who would name the protagonist from Final Fantasy Tactics anything but Ramza?

How about Wizardry? At first I named my characters after friends and family based on their personalities and relation to classes (girlfriends are always clerics/healers!) but later, it became more convenient at a glance to name them, LORD, NINJA, SAMURAI, WIZARD, CLERIC, MAGE.

Unfortunately, with a name like Rob, you don't fit in the fantasy RPG environment, generally. "Sir Robert" would occasionally be used, but otherwise I'm just picking a name out of the air. I think I stuck with "Lothar" from... Warcraft 2 I think and that is my usual name in TES series games. Back when I was still addicted to MMO's and was making characters, I would use their name generators but then alter them slightly. A shame that consoles never provide a system like that."

On Rob Savillo's  Hunter's Notes: Stalking the Beasts of Monster Hunter Tri
"I definitely agree with playing MH3 with friends, all the prior ones in the series have been about grouping together and ganging up on some legendary beast that's been terrorizing your (insert village or city here). Story is sitting in the backseat for this adventure, but then again, I consider storylines/intrigue to be an enhancement to the gaming experience, not a necessity.

I also second that this game would be much better served in HD graphics. Hell, the series looks better on the PSP at times since I'm not stretching out my 480 resolution across 42 inches of real estate.

Getting it on a console, regretably, has made me consider forking out the cash to getting a PSP to get the next version of it that will be coming out. Was that their evil scheme all along? We'll see after E3."

On Andrew Nunn's  Why I don't Like Online Multiplayer
"ever understood why video games are excluded from normal human behavior. Does anyone sit next to a stranger at a restaurant and start eating with them? Does anyone stand at a baseball diamond, glove in hand, hoping for some stranger to come along to play a game with? With MMORPG's being the exception here (I liken them more to coworkers who turn into friends instead of strangers), online multiplayer always feels like me trying to do something enjoyable with total strangers. I will always prefer friends over strangers in life, I can't imagine it being any different with my video games. Andrew I am right with you. Don't let same screen / LA"
