"hink developers also need to think about how easy it is to hit the combination they're requiring. I hated hitting Y and B in Bayonetta because it required me to completely change my hand's orientation on the contr"

"s are a natural fit for games, and it's silly to scold developers for using them. That's like getting mad at sports for involving balls too frequently. Sure there are good sports that don't use them, but that doesn't make basketball any less fun to watch. I also disagree with the statement "To today’s publishers, video games are commodities that are sold and profited from, and that’s precisely the image that non-gamers see when they think of video games." You can't make get mad at a them for running a business, and in no way does the general public look down on publishers because they want to make money. If anything, the non-gamers are completely oblivious to the changing trends in game develo"

"hink backwards compatibility is only really an issue at the beginning of a console's life when there are far fewer titles. It's a safety measure. It's a way for the big three to say, "We understand we don't have a lot of games worth your time, so play those old ones some more." That's why you stopped hearing about it. Anyone who bought an Xbox 360 did it for the huge current gen library, not to play Fusion F"

"e to say it, but you got screwed on that laptop if you payed $1200 and got a 2 GHz processor. I recently bought an ibuypower(that computer place whose adds were all over EGM) laptop with a 2.8 GHz dual core and 4 GB DDR3(a huge step up from DDR2) for $1"

"game is without a doubt good, but I don't think it will change the genre like Kamiya claimed. It's also going to do very little to attract new people to the genre. I rarely play action games like this, so I found several of the enemies (I'm looking at you fire and lightning guys) infuriating. I can't help but think someone greener than myself will find it downright impos"

"e the article. This problem defining a journalist seems to be something that other forms of media are currently facing as well. Most of your points about "games journalists" as personalities could easily be describing a sports writer, or a political pundit for that matter. The key is, as you pointed out, sharing an experience someone else can't be around for. For instance, my uncle is a major sports writer for the Gannett chain of papers. During the Beijing Olympics, he did a piece on what it was like riding a bike around the city during all the commotion. That was something most of the population will never get to experience. This is the same reason I think convention floor crawls are great. They capture that experience one is missing o"

"re is one main problem with the shorter game model. Whenever I've played a game over, all the flaws seem to be more obvious. When all the content is new, it is easier to focus on the positive aspects. However, the frequent fetch quests or one broken boss fight which were mere speed bumps before really stand out on the third and fourth play thr"
