"@Marcel Oh I wasn't saying the auto-mapping is a bad thing (if I was calling anything a bad thing it was Final Fantasy XIII). I'm just saying that manual mapping is a part of games that I really enjoy(ed) and that I miss, past just the usual nostalgia factor."

"Hey,

I can't access any of my posts from the last version, but I, more pressingly, can't edit my profile or things like that.

Or even access the profile page..."

"My god. I envy you. I remember when I was just a kid, getting into SMT... And now its my favorite series of all time.

If you need any recommendations, just send me a message or something, I'd be happy to advise on the Persona series, SMT in general, or games like it.

Oh, also some advice.

"There were times when the game irritated me. The dungeon music of Tartarus sounded extremely repetitive and the floor designs looked a little stale. However, this was an insignificant price to pay for the experience of becoming your own ultimate Japanese badass."

You can request that Fuuka change the BGM for you, which helps with the music.

For new SMT games I recommend the Raidou Kuzunoha series, which has a different battle system, setting, and feel, but is a fantastic game. Also, take a look at Noctune or Devil Survivor..

"I back up the Cliff Bars suggestion. Quick snacks are essential. And the portables are great. So many portables lack a real online mode that PAX is really the best time to do some multiplayer.

Also, bring a friend. The whole thing is even better when you compare swag, try games with a buddy, or just walk around in awe with them."

"I've had Etrian Odyssey III reserved for ages. I played the last two games and loved them and this one even has an art book pre-order bonus.

Actually, I played the demo for Phantasy Star Portable 2 (having played the first one) and I got to transfer my character and all. I had hit the level cap before I realized it. The online play was fantastically fun. It has real infrastructure play, with friends and different game modes and all. I don't think I've ever been sold by a demo so decisively.   "

"gree with you on the instructional portion of the dialogue, but I feel that, on the whole, both the story and writing of Metal Gear is fantastic. The story is twisting and engrossing and the conversations serve to illustrate this. Besides, your stipulation that instructional dialogue (i.e. Press the Action Button by the ladder) is bad is like saying that shotgun marriages are spontaneous. Its a "no duh!" kind of thing. In ever game the instructions in dialogue are bad, clunky, and forced. Sure Final Fantasy VII tried to change this up, the experienced Cloud giving the instructions to other, but no matter what the case, the instructional dialogue will be"
