"I've thought the same thing at times. As a kid I LOVED pulling off disgusting fatalities in Mortal Kombat. Thankfully I wasn't lame enough to dismiss non ultra-violent games, but I thought the bloody stuff was great. After some time away I realized that it really is kind of a revolting concept to encourage people to take pleasure in the dismembering foes at your mercy. For whatever reason I was looking at old Bloodstorm and Eternal Champions (the gorier Sega CD version) fatalities and they're just so pointlessly mean. All that said, if I ever find Mortal Kombat in some place, I'll still try to pull off fatalties. I guess violence does have a sick appeal.

I do think you're missing out by skipping the God of Wars. They definitely play up the violence, but those games are designed well and would still be fun without the gore."
