My first console was an NES, my first handheld a blue GameBoy Pocket, though I've since sworn my allegiance to Microsoft. I'm a Pokemon Master, bane of the Reapers, savior of Morrowind and Cyrodiil. If only I could put these things on a resume...

After the botched launch of the 3DS eStore and the debacle of Operation Rainfall, it seems like Nintendo doesn't want gamers' money. If that's the case, the company shouldn't be surprised to see the skull and crossbones soon.

Once upon a time, midnight releases were bastions of hardcore nerdery. These days, it seems like any title with two pre-orders gets the late night event. With my veteran experience, you're sure to be having a blast all the way to sunrise instead of passing out in a recliner drooling on yourself!

For my entry in September's Writing Challenge, I've chosen to craft a brief scene leading up to the finale of Ezio's story in the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

This Demon's Souls stranger will finally take the plunge into From Software's dark fantasy with Dark Souls; although, he's not without an overwhelming sense of trepidation.

Every so often a multiplayer mode comes along that shakes things up. This year, it's Gears of War 3's Horde 2.0 and Beast mode. Are you ready to channel your inner Berserker?

Renaissance Italy, as seen in the Assassin's Creed series, is perhaps one of the most fully-realized game environments in recent memory. Between story, game play and the setting itself, history is your playground.

In an age where the introductory cut-scene is king, Matt makes the argument for games to be more pick-up-and-play than pick-up-and-watch.

Are you getting tired of paying ridiculous amounts of money for weapon skins, posters, and concept art? I am.

The modern marketing machine actually does the opposite of what it's suppose to: It kills hype.

On the fence about whether or not to pick up Gears 3 or play the beta? Let me make up your mind for you!

When a franchise has been around long enough, it can get harder and harder to write a good review. In this article I explore what problems reviewers run into and what they can do to work around them.

"I used the Oghma Infinium glitch and cheated my way to the max level 81. I'm terrible, I know."

"Really, everyone? No love for Mr. Freeze? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkTHtWX7CCY

And yes, for the sole reason of the George Clooney-starring Batman & Robin where Arnold himself makes about a hundred thousand terrible cold and ice-related puns. "Let's kick some ice!", anyone?

"I might write two, because the first thing that came to mind was a level that barely qualified as such."

"Thanks a lot for the compliment! Ezio has a very simple, but distinct way of speaking. My litmus test for dialogue was trying to visualize his signature accent voicing any given line. If I had taken more time I could have crafted a more detailed script, but this scene alone made me realize how much of the AC games is simple exploration, and how hard it must be for the writers to convey important story points in such a short time."

"I had actually read that...I'm interested in what it's going to be like to play a Western-influenced game made by a Japanese developer."

"When I set out to do something, I take it all the way. I'll play this game until I just can't take it anymore. Hopefully I'm on a New Game+ by that point. And I, too, almost didn't buy this simply because of the flood of games that's coming out. I'm using Mass Effect 3 as a deadline of sorts to try and finish some of the games that are coming out by then. It's going to be tough."

"I was terrible at every Ninja Gaiden game I played. Hopefully my vast RPG experience pays off. And I've done more than succumb to grainy gameplay videos on YouTube in the past few days. I've been routinely checking in on the 24-hour stream of the game that IGN has been doing. I'm hooked!"

"I'm definitely far more frightened of a player invasion than I am of any AI boss...yet I'm still eagerly awaiting it."

"The lyrics to the songs in both of the recent trailers are really focused on death and tribulation. I'm amused by how deeply they're embracing their reputation in their marketing. BTW, thanks for the formatting fix."

"Why can't I get the YouTube embed to work?"

"I agree with you to some extent, but it's a little more complicated than that. There will be a generous amount of maps in Gears 3 and that's why I won't complain about the DLC being tested now rather than later. That means we'll all get maps sooner. By all means, though, complain about Halo or CoD. I'll use Reach as an example. $10 for 3 maps, one of which is a Firefight map for a mode no one plays? Waste.

My point is, what's the cut-off point for when they're allowed to work on DLC? Are they supposed to wait until after the game releases just so they won't piss people off? More than likely people will complain about the extra wait and claim that they're not supporting their game."
