"s is probably a reasonably good study if what you want is a measure of the correlation between metacritic score and sales numbers. But this is not what is implied in either the editors note or in several parts of the article. Instead we are told that we are uncovering if metacritic affects sales. Unfortunately there is absolutely nothing in this study that would be able to determine this. The biggest problem is of course the lack of controlling for other factors when it comes to what drives sales. The article mentions this but instead of drawing the correct conclusion that nothing can be said about the effect of metacritic on game sales the eroneous conclusion is drawn that metactitic has low or no effect on game sales. This even though there are absolutely no evidence to support this stat"
