"Couldn't agree more. I really, really wanted to like FFXIII, and I gave it 15 hours to prove itself before I eventually traded it back in for Borderlands. It was really promising at first. I wasn't expecting much in terms of story or characters (this is the pinnacle of derivative melodrama after all, not Bioshock), so I really can't fault it for that. What killed me was, as interesting as all the systems put in place are, and as beautiful as it looks, it never actually lets the player play the damn thing. I could never choose my party, double back and explore, nothing. It could have been on rails and the experience would have been more or less the same.

 

I guess Sazh really wasn't such a bad character, but really if I have to listen to Vanille say anything (ANYTHING) one more time, I'll fellate a shot gun. Not really, but you get the idea."

Nationalist and video game discourses both have the benefit of identifiable iconography as a means of establishing patterns of relationship. "sona 4 is (somewhat surprisingly) rife with issues involving sexuality, and I felt that it did an incredible job of addressing them through both dialogue and symbolism. There is a mixture of subtlety and overtness in the narratives of Kanji, Naoto, Yukiko, Rise, and even Chie, that tackle the many facets of sexuality as part of a larger emotional picture.
