"@Jon Yeah, it's like one of the challenges where you had to psych yourself up before commiting the act. In the same way, you had to demotivate yourself by choosing negative thoughts before you give up and quit the challenge and not go through with it.

The other challenges were much more direct in choosing a Yes or No option on whether to perform the challenges but there are choices in which will be detrimental to the progress of the story later on."

"Great article.

Not that this will change much of the views of the article but you can actually quit out of all of Ethan's challenges. You point out that you couldn't "drive away" but in fact the game does provide that option when you press L2 to see what the character is thinking. If you choose the negative thoughts about the situation Ethan will quit out of the challenge and have consequences at the end of the game."

"I just wanted to add. That a side effect to the "original" games being sold in Asia now is that younger gamers are rarely console gamers first unless it's something like the PS2, modded 360 or the Wii. Many times their first experience in gaming would be in the cybercafe's with games like DotA, Counter-strike or L4D because friends can just bring other friends along and pay $1 or 2 to play games at a cybercafe. In the past, it would be feasible for them to get cheap PSone or PS2 games but now they gravitate towards computer games because it's cheaper plus ithe social and competitive aspects to playing in the cybercafe.

However, the problem I find with this is when gaming topics are being discussed they rarely go further than fps or DotA. Some could say that CS has become the Super Mario Bros of the new generation where that is the game that everyone knows. Not that this is bad, but as someone who appreciates gaming for more than just a 20 second life span. It gets kinda boring when actually talking to people about gaming here."

"I don't live too far away (Brunei), and I would like to say that many of us in Asia do have the same experiences that John has where this new world has been opened up to us. The only thing to keep in mind though is Philippines is one of the most packed and richest countries in the South East Asian countries. Their numbers make sense that they would get the love from Sony to reduce prices and what not. In a country of population 350,000, we rely heavily on the used games market to match the amount of games that we can realistically afford.

P.s. My phat PS3 has ylod-ed after reading this..."

"from Asia and we get games from different regions here especially for the PS3. PS3 games aren't region locked so we get games from the US, UK, Australia, Japan and even Asia. The problem isn't because of the games themselves being region locked, it's that dlc is usually region locked. So I have to think about whether or not a game will have paid dlc in the future. I could also make PSN accounts for the different regions but I like my ESRB logo and R1 on the side of my cases. Personal preference. Same with PSP games. Piracy is still rampant here, so the Xbox 360 games are normally pirated and hence... region free in a"

"Cosmo Cohen - Richard is the guy who died in the first Resident Evil BTW, a spoiler warning would be nice. I know that it's game deaths but some of these deaths are from new games like the one in Brutal Legend and would have appreciated being warned. Not a big deal but you know, it caught me off"
