Games like the latest Zelda and No More Heroes often feel like work, yet we still love them. Why?

Realtime World's APB, led by GTA's creator David Jones, reimagines the sandbox action-adventure in a world where the cops and crooks are all played by human players, up to a 100 at a time. This is just one of the games that is reinventing what it means to be singleplayer or multiplayer in this new decade of ours. It begs one to question: Are these becoming antiquated labels to apply to games?

"t survey isn't very good--I say this because you can't choose the same option for both. That doesn't make sense. So one always has to be better then the other? I did the survey but I don't feel I accurately voiced my opinion. Is this just a bug or is this intentional? I'll be willing to do it again when/if this is addressed. Look forward to seeing the new, bright future of Bitmob (FUELED BY"

"gree the game is style over substance but I enjoyed it a bit more than you (.5 more, to be exact). The villains, acting, and visuals were just so wonderfully realized and unlike anything else in gaming before or since. It's a game that is deserving of a sequel, or at least an opportunity for the developer to try again. I didn't enjoy the gameplay all that much, but the cutscenes hooked me like an MGS game, equally disturbed and fascinated by the bizzare characters and world they exist within. In retrospect, Zeno Clash did it better but you can't beat the motion captured animation"

"h, that's the problem of exploring in 2D space versus 3D space--its a lot more time consuming and intricate. I always get the idea that Japanese gamers a more patient bunch that don't mind this sort of game design. It would be interesting to see the next Zelda playtested on an American audience--it'd be a much different game, I im"

"ict is a vague term. When I say addict, I mean an addict. Someone who spends 10 or more hours a day, every day gaming. The film ends with someone saying basically what you are. "Some people build cars, we game. So what?", more or less. Which, I agree with.
My article isn't passing judgement on these addicts, but analyzing how we've built a synthetic world and how its effecting our living one, both on a personal and cultural level. If we were living in a utopia where we can lock ourselves away into some form of gaming nirvana fine, but for the time being we can't and trying to do so will only end up harming the only real life we have for the time be"

"h, OLAG definitely isn't as good as it can be but its a start and they reach out to people through a rather thankless job.
Only Dan and his nephew were at rock bottom, but there is an eerie similarity between some of those players and meth addicts. They live in houses with the sun blocked out, filled with garbage, and spend every waking minute that they can in it playing WoW. They're the happy medium--the addict that can manage a job and a family. Except, they aren't all that happy and their hobby will most likely cause future proble"

"s "game" hit me like a ton of bricks. Its interactive art like this that make me think gaming is the way of the future. The idea of 9-to-5 is one that is easy and simple to accept, but when you are experiencing it--rather than watching Bill Murray--really has a different effect. "Every Day the Same Dream" is such a perfect, clever execution of an idea--you are trapped in an endless loop, so why not go left instead of right to see what is there.
Some ideas thrive when taken out of a passive m"
