"Yep, I'm looking forward to this one too. 2010 looks like a good year for indie/downloadable games. Shank, LIMBO, Joe Danger, just to name a few. All these games look like they're aiming to strike a nice balance between being fun, refreshing, and yet familiar all at the same time."

"If I didn't get killed every ten seconds in this game and if it was five bucks cheaper I might be into picking it up.
I wish there was an option to turn off or at least limit the air support in this game. There's simply nothing fun about hiding indoors for five minutes at a time while some weenis blows his air support wad all over the map."

"elieve it was former Gamespot editor Greg Kasavin who mentioned the counterargument to game innovation on Bitmob's very own Mobcast. I thought he made a good point too, which is why my only concern about a new Batman game is the games setting and not how it would play.
That said I think Rocksteady has stated that they're isn't much more they can creatively do with the Arkham setting which makes me think that the their marketing department made the decision to call the game Arkham Asylum 2 mainly for brand recognition pur"

"ate to say it but I'm not sure this game is going to deliver.
It looks to be very character/story driven (which is great) but the awkward, uneven dialogue and voice acting seem to undermine its intented purpose which is a shame considering that the developers are admirably trying to elevate games to a higher level.
It just seems like if you don't buy into the acting/characters then all you're left with is a game that has dubious gameplay mechanics, and oh yeah, amazing graphics.
Despite how grounded in reality Heavy Rain is supposed to be I think the Hollywood blockbuster stylings of Uncharted 2 might be the Sony exclusive that devlivers the more belivable/engaging characters and story in a video"

"tiplayer games are actually turning me off of playing games altogether. Games are supposed to be fun but there's nothing fun about getting killed almost instantly within the first 30 seconds of the game. It brings out the worst in me.
Cursing up a storm, throwing the controller, getting completely worked up over a game...ugh...this is how I used to act when I was eight years old playing moon patrol! It leaves such a bad taste in my mouth that I won't even want to play the single player campaign.
On a side note I understand that multiplayer is supposed to increase the lifespan of a game, but part of me feels like it can have the opposite effect. If you don't jump into multiplayer right from the get go then you might not be able to keep up and therefore won't be able to play multiplayer at all. That was my experience when I bought the first Gears of War a year after it was released"

"iel, nice article. I've thought about picking up Fallout 3 in part because I used to live in D.C. proper and grew up in the nearby Virginia suburbs. I don't suppose the Tastee Diner makes an appearance?
It would be nice to see more games set in the DC metro area. I got a kick out of playing the Northern Virginia sections of Modern Warfare 2, although it would've been nicer if Infinity Ward created a more faithful representation of the area instead of making them look like any old American suburban neighborhood. The mention of I-95 at the beginning of that mission gave me goosebumps and the PG County reference was a nice touch too. Too bad there wasn't a shout out to specific D.C. neighborhoods like Adams Morgan, Mt. Pleasant, or Dupont Circle.
It'll be interesting to see how D.C. is portrayed in the next Splinter Cell game. I'm guessing Sam Fisher will be relegated to the mall area like an 8th grader on a school fieldtrip, but who knows maybe we'll see an interrogation scene in the bathroom of Ben's Chili"

"e article. That's something I think about every time a new World War II game is released.
It might not be nice to say this, but it could be argued that game developers are on a certain level taking part in a form of Holocaust denial. Of course at the same time I'm sure they would be seen as trivalizing the Holocaust if they did include it in a game. For the developers, it's a lose-lose situation.
Maybe the real problem isn't so much that the World War II setting is played out but rather that setting the game in the FPS genre is hampering it from moving forward. The first thing the FPS crowd wants to know about when a new game is announced is what the weapons load-out will be.
In FPS's we're basically playing as a floating gun more so than an actual character. In that regard perhaps a shift to a third person perspective would help bring in a more human element to the game and therefore open up the possiblity of more complex storytel"

"de from terrible plot and the campaign's complete lack of focus I also found that the games difficulty and the need to replay certain segments over and over again completely deflated some key moments that shouldn've been really powerful.
Even on the lower game settings I felt like I was constantly throwing myself into a meat grinder.
For instance, I probably had to play the snowmobile part half a dozen times before I avoided running head first into a tree. Good times! When I finally made the jump the moment was no longer exciting or thrilling. It was simply frustrating and tedious.
Then there was the first half of the Favela mission. I kept getting killed by the ten zillion enemies swarming around me from all sides. I died so much during this section that I was convinced that I was playing the game wrong yet I couldn't figure out how I was supposed to be playing it right. I still don't!
And it just went on like that for almost the entire game. It also didn't help that the dialogue was so muddled that I couldn't hear my orders half the time and therefore didn't know what my mission objectives were supposed to be.
All and all it felt like Infinity Ward thought that making everything louder and more intense would mean that they were making a better game but in the end is simply came across as a frustrating, cacophonous, bewildering mess.
Multiplayer is great thoug"

Those advertisments are clearly saying, "if you like military vidoe games, you might want to think about joining the military". Is it appropriate for the military to be making that type of suggestion to young people? I don't think so.
That type of marketing seems very reminiscent of Camel cigarettes Joe Camel ad campaign that was targeted at children and young adults under the age of 18."
