". For years I always blamed "PS2 lovers" for the Dreamcast's early demise because let's face it, MANY MANY gamers in the US and abroad didn't buy the DC because they were waiting for the Messiah known as the PS2. It took me until late '08 to give Sony another chance (I hadn't bought bought or rented a PS2/PS3/PSP game/system since early 2001) because deep down I knew it was mostly Sega that killed the DC, as evidenced by their absolute crappy track record over the past 5-6 years. Even so, I still feel like "n00b", "casual" or "Anti-SEGA" gamers hurt DC majorly and if it had their support, SEGA may still be around as a hardware provider today.
In short, gamers who missed out on DC years ago deserve to feel bad. You purposely ignored a system so far ahead of its time most people didn't appreciate it properly. Let's not forget the Saturn's treatment either --- THAT was a great system too. NiGHTS, Dragon Force, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, etc. all made that a great system as well. But yet again, casual, n00b and average gamers ignored it to the point where SEGA felt forced to act quickly to stay alive.
SEGA has always been a company that people seem to love or hate. It isn't like the Apple-ish Nintendo that no one ever publicly criticizes...no, SEGA always seemed to be the industry's whipping boy. And before people mention Sega CD or 32X, let's not forget the DOA Virtual Boy or"

"sona 4 is one of the best RPGs of all time and it has serious JRPG issues such as lots of grinding and an awkward save system. Thos problems aside though, if you honestly passed it over because you don't like the anime art style, text menus or 2D animation cutscenes doesn't make it any less of a groundbreaking RPG experience. In fact, Persona 4 has the best game translation I've ever come across (the voice acting is amazing). If more JRPGs were written, presented and handled with care the way Persona 4 was, the argument against JRPGs would be a non-issue.
You can thank FFVII's sloppy translation and awkward JRPG characteristics for all future lame JRPG ports. I'm being serious too --- before then, the number of JRPG ports was small and the number of "bad" characteristics of JRPG ports was a very rare issue in the mid 90s and ea"

"sorry --- but this is a TERRIBLE game.
It's not even clever or unique...it's just stupid. I gave up once I got to the "Time to Refresh" part.
Checking out the walkthrough video, it turns out that I have to REFRESH the webpage?
That is just idiotic.
99% of Flash "games" are crappy excuses for entertainment.
Please Bitmob staff...don't post any more things like this unless it's worth readers' time in checking out.

"nsist on saying Aeris because Square has a tendency of rewriting games upon re-release and attempting to "fix" them. It's annoying. Like GOLD. It's not Gold...it's GIL. GIL!?! WTF is that?
I'm just saying that FFVII isn't a particularly good game. Perhaps it's "good" if you think about how it introduced RPGs to many people (by using 3D & fancy cutscenes)...but as an RPG, it's average at"

"II is ridiculously overrated, as is Aeris' (not AERITH Japanese gamer nerd wannabees) death.
I mean, from what I remember, Aeris wasn't a huge deal in that game. I mean, not to the point that you'd be sad over her death.
I don't get it. FFIII/VI was MUCH more moving in terms of character development and THAT is what I remember as being the pinnacle of RPGs. FFVII? Phooey.
The only reason so many people speak highly of it was because that was their first RPG. It's actually a pretty bland game (although the music is very well"

"never I review a game, I always rate the game's Graphics, Sound, Play Control & Fun Factor. The Graphics refers to its visuals of course (how it uses the gaming hardware, how it compares to other titles, its art style, the effort put into it, etc.). The Sound refers to the game's sound effects, music and voice acting. The Play Control refers to how the game FEELS to the player (Is it easy to learn? Too complicated to pick up quickly? Has weird button configurations? Awkward saving system? Responsive controls? etc.).
Fun Factor simply refers to how much fun I had with the game. THIS is where the "Feeling" part of the article would fit in. If a game is great in all other aspects but has nothing special about it, the game won't get a high Fun Factor score. It's that simple. So to say current review methods are outdated is ridiculous. The experiences games can create IS ALREADY factore dinto reviews...it's just that most intelligent reviewers don't feel the need to include a special category for "Feeling".
It's the same as some reviewers including a "Story" component to ALL of their reviews. OKAY...so how are you gonna rate the "Story" mode in a Sports game?
Reviews are NOT broken and I'm tired of sites nowadays trying to say gaming scores, standard categories, etc. are outdated.
They aren't. O"

"Normal mode takes about 7 hours to finish. If ittakes you significantly longer than that...without sounding mean...maybe it's just a game you're not very good at and you do need to tone down the difficulty level.
With shooters I usually attempt to play the game at first on Normal only to have my butt handed to me. I then typically retreat the Easy mode until I get a good feel for the game, weapons, stages, etc.
It's possible you just weren't very good at this game. The teammate reviving thing wasn't that bad and the level design (despite a few annoying battles) was really good.
I think Ghostbusters is just a love it/hate it game...and a lot of people's opinion about the game is based on their feelings of the m"

"...the game was great. For it being an unofficial "movie" game, its execution was far more than I (& most people) expected...and I'm not even a die-hard Ghostbusters fan so my opinion is far from biased on the game.
The only real problem areas of the game was the area near the end w/ the stone cherubs you gotta kill with the slime tether and *maybe* the library boss you gotta kill by using the teleporters strategically. Both were a bit too frustrating for my liking.
Aside from that though, the voice acting was great, the CG cutscenes were well done and the story was amazingly well-scripted. I mean, if Ghostbusters 3 existed and had used this game's storyline for it...it would have kicked butt as a real film.
In short, it's a great game. Probably the best "movie" game ever, simply because of how well so many of its parts work together. People who don't like it either don't like Ghostbusters at all (and obviously aren't the intended audience) or at just nit-picking.
I also played the PC version (1680x1050 baby!) and even the absence of multiplayer & trophies didn't diminish my enjoyment of the game. Honestly, up to this point in '09 I'd have to say it is my favorite game so far this year. Maybe not the best in every area or revolutionary...but certainly the most fun to play.
On a side note, the Wii/PS2 "cartoony" version is complete crap and the PS2 port is one of the buggiest games I have ever played in my entire life. Seri"

"ve, I read your article and am sorry that you're having a hard time. I work in the graphic/web design world...a field not too far away from the game design world...and I can totally sympathize. I, too, at the moment am unemployed and looking for work.
While I do not have a great understanding of the way game companies operate in terms of who they hire, I think you may be thinking the wrong away about your situation. I highly doubt your disability is why you keep losing jobs after getting to the interview process.
I mean, look at what you said:
"hundreds, if not thousands, of developers"
Now, if you say you didn't get a job because of your disability, what's all of those other people's excuses. My guess is if they worked in the gaming field before they are probably qualified to work in it again...so it's not like they are bad workers and that's the reason why they are unemployed as well.
The ugly truth is that right now employers have all the power. They can afford to pick and choose exactly who they want. For all we know you could have been super close to getting a job somewhere...but another candidate has TWO games shipped and you only had one so far. That's very, very possible and like I said, employers can be as picky as they want.
I don't even think it has anything to do with physical characteristics. In fact, companies can sometimes get tax breaks and improve their diverse employee status by hiring people with disabilities (look at Walmart) so if anything, I would think you being a good worker with a disability also just shows them what a catch you are for them.
One word of advice I would give though is this: I'm originally from Michigan and after graduating college in '05 I moved to Chicago for work. It was nice for awhile but the massive glut of new college grads absolutely killed my hopes of increasing my pay or job title there. It isn't enough that you are competing with out of work developers in Chicago for the few studios' positions...you are competing against the non-stop supply of new grads from all of those colleges downtown (or from people fleeing Michigan).
I eventually moved back to Michigan after a year and a half because even though I liked Chicago, the job market was bottlenecked and I wasn't going to get ahead unless I had a decade or more experience under my belt. Since then I've had to relocate again (this time to Alabama where I have relatives) because the job market is so terrible in the Michigan/Chicago area.
It may suck to hear this...but if you want to continue working on games, you'll most likely have to move to the west coast like most other devel"
