"Good god, that sounds painful. You should definitely be careful because once this kind of injury happens, you're predisposed for further injuries. Are there prostheses available to help with this? Something you could wear over your knee to protect yourself?"

"Mario Kart and Puzzle Quest are excellent examples. Its actually why I stopped playing Mario Kart for the Wii. I saw the AI cheat in PQ2 as well as PQ1. The thing with getting instantly shot at by everyone is in all FPS games, including KZ and Mass Effect 2. The psychic guards are in Fable 2 also.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Starcraft 2. The Very Hard and Insane AIs get 1.5x and 2x the money respectively. "

"The problem with the kinect is a problem of perception. $150 seems like a lot drop at once, but that's not taking into consideration the relative costs having to buy multiple peripherals for the Wii or the PS3.

Now, if we evaluate the Kinect purely on its merits, independently of the Wii and the PS3, while the Kinect does have the kneejerk barrier to overcome, the reason people are reacting this way is not only because of the price, but because of the lack of enthusiasm their software induced. If something seems amazing enough, people will pay just about anything. Look at what happens when Sony releases a new Playstation. Look at what happened when the Wii came out. People did crazy things like spend thousands of dollars or camp overnight at sub-zero temperatures outside Best Buy to get those things. What's bad for the Kinect is it isn't eliciting that kind of fanaticism and it is simply because people don't give a damn."

"on't know how the characters or the story are for FFXIII, but I was disappointed with FFXII. The gameplay and graphics were top notch, the music was good but I found the character development to be poor, the voice acting quality was poor and the story did not live up to those of several of its predecessors, with all the loose ends it left and making little sense. It short, this all felt shallow. The questions I would want to ask would have to do with how does Square Enix view the importance of writers? Who writes the scenarios? The dialogs? How do they feel in comparison to games from companies like Bioware and Rockstar that employ writers and actors regularly for their titles? Do they believe their work is equivalent/competitive or do they feel they have to standards to live"

"idea that the internet is a comfortable place for the socially maladaptive is not a new one and it is fairly reasonable one. Anonymity provides people with a sense of security they wouldn't otherwise have. This article (see below), which I found through Game Politics, actually addresses a few important points on the topic, including how the American Medical Addiction actually defines addiction in this context, which when someone has greater success with their social interactions online than offline. This creates a context within which some people will thrive and associate develop a sense of identity they have difficulty stepping away from because they have nothing else. This plays a bit into the research you mentioned about how WoW players having problems and while I don't believe the 40% statistic, for a bunch of reasons including study design and lacking the proper context to define illness, we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water; the study is not entirely without merit and is a step in the right direction in redirecting the discussion about how "evil" games are. http://kentwired.com/students-pick-video-games-over-social-"

"ho summed this up nicely: PC gamers are no better than subway vagrants. "- There is no piracy. - To the extent that piracy exists, which it doesn't, it's your fault. - If you try to protect your game, we'll steal it as a matter of principle." http://www.penny-arcade.com/2009/"

"endum: there is great diversity to be found in video game music, from Madworld's rap, to various metal rearrangements of battle tracks by people like SSH, Nihon Falcom with the Ys series, the epic Hollywood action movie style music to Halo and Prototype, the Final Fantasy piano collections, the list goes on. One of the big problems if you want to get people to listen to a soundtrack nowadays, especially a naive listener is that its a diverse body of work that has strengths and weaknesses. Its not useful to just let it roll. It would be a lot better to create an arrangement of tracks by different composers and to draw on their individual strengths. Also, I wonder about what it is you're trying to do. I'm not sure you're so much trying to initiate your girlfriend to video game music as you are trying to get her to recognize a part of you. While the video game music is somewhat part of the picture, the part you care about is how you relate to the music and the games you specifically picked, not that you care that she cares about video game music in general. It sounds like this is more about you. I may be wrong, since things can come across differently than intended on the int"

"k something that is closer aligned to your girlfriend's taste instead of trying to push your idea of a good video game soundtrack onto her. Also, you need to consider that a lot of the time, the emotion of a moment in a given videogame, your experience with the game itself will color your perception of its music, giving you a different experience than a naive listener. While CC has some good tracks to it, you have to be more strategic if you want to have any success. For the record, I like vg music a lot, so I'm not saying this to bash your music ta"
