I feel like I've been a gamer since the dawn of time but it's only since getting my iPhone that I've really noticed a change in the way I play and how I buy games. With games getting more expensive and complicated is the retro simplicity of the "app" the way forward?

"Heavy Rain is a horrible game for new parents to play, not just for the plot but that damned scene where you have to look after the baby, I'd just got one to bed now I have to rock a virtual baby AARRGGGHH! And you are spot on with RPG's I have FFXIII just taunting me as I can't even finish a damned fight"

"I really know how you feel but not with games with TV, I'm a promo maker and hence watch A LOT of TV every day for work and I've found whichever genre or channel I work on I just can not watch at all at home. I went a while working on a comedy channel and whenever I sat at home and watched a comedy it just wasn't the same, I could see the punchlines coming a mile off, it became predictable and cynical, I could see how that joke might make the basis of a good promo. I now work in sport and I can not watch any sport at all (apart from F1). I just find it all really meaningless and shallow because the majority of my week I'm trying to sell this kind of stuff.
Interestingly now I love watching comedy, even the channel I used to work on I guess working on something you love can really have it's draw backs. Did you find something similar i.e. testing a first person shooter makes you want to play more RPG's instead? "

"I gave my PS2 away recently and there was something quite satisfying about knowing someone else would be getting enjoyment out of something packed away in a box in my loft."

"This month the UK gets a brand new gaming channel Ginx TV available on cable and Satelite, hopes aren't overly high at the moment as no-one has ever really got this right yet in the UK, http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2010-08/26/britain-videogames-tv the article by pocket lint here is very interesting on gaming TV and why they are sceptical http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/35214/ginx-games-channel-launch-november"

"10 hours in and the promise of it getting good after 20 is keeping me going. It's very linear and doesn't require much thought so unlike any other game I've played I feel I have to play another game at the same time as opposed to concentrating on just this. But it's so linear I can keep coming back to it without really believing I'll finish it. A bit Sadi masochistic but there"

"Trophies and achievements add replay value to a game, though I have gotten to the point where before I start a game I'll look at the trophies and see if there are different ones for different difficulty levels and that will influence how I start to play the game.
My only problem is that if I've spent hours and hours getting a platinum trophy for a game I want more than a little "ding", I want a god damn fanfare I want glitter to fall from the sky in the game, I want an avatar of the game designer popping up on the screen saying "Great job", I want a message to pop up on all my friends consoles telling them how god damn great I am!
Not that I'm a shallow egotistical monster or anything..."

"Wow a lot of work has gone into that review, unfortunately the lack of in game English will put me off. @Toby all DS games as far as I know are region free, like the PS3 so Europe, US, Japan, Australia, you name it you should be able to play it."

"bsolutly loved Eternal Darkness when it came out, I really don't remember being too confused by the controls or casting spells. There seems to be a fair few classics I still need to get through, I never got very far in Killer 7, I found Psychonauts the other day in Blockbuster, and FFXII is still sitting there but I doubt I'll have the time till I get through my pile of games for the PS3 from Christmas, gaming time is precious so it may be a long while till I get around to some of"

"end to go more for reviewers opinions that I respect than scores, but it's very easy to go on over to metacritic and quickly check out a game and see what the general consensus is. I think with game reviews there is such a rush to just get stuff online that first impressions matter and that there isn't always time for perspective.
Not to mention that with a game like Brutal legend you were probably influenced by the Tim Schafer hype, It's on my shelf waitying to be played as soon as I finish Uncharte"
