Ever wondered how close L.A. Noire is to its literary and film roots? Well it does respond to some key themes from film noir and hardboiled detective fiction, but it also falls short in some key respects. Judging from this game at least, developers are making giant strides but still have some way to go to authentically recreate this genre.
