"Inturff As a young geek, there may be some disparity with your claim, as an insider/up and close observer, it is less "Geek" and more "False-Geek", people become involved in something inherently geeky, manga for example, and what will happen is a geek will be shunned out of those groups still. It is less of a "Hey, Geek, stop looking at that japanese porn"- kind of mockery, and more of a ,"So what if you like , you still aren't popular enough to talk to us", sort of situ"

"mmy I agree, while it could be much worse, it is true that in comparison to other derogatory terms used online, such as the "Fa" word, "noob" is not as bad. Though some of these phrases scare me a bit when they get too close to the "Newspeak""
