Though the Wii has broadened video games' mass appeal with user-friendly motion controls, the system's throwback to the 2D platformers of the 16-bit era is just as enticing to old-school gamers.

"I thought that from a purely visual standpoint, they did okay - certain visual/scenic choices were good, but the actual story was laughably thin. I think there is merit and if it were the first of a series of fan film shorts (like the recent Modern Warfare homage) it could have potential... but as any sort of legitimate film in and of itself? No."

"I would still say Modern Warfare's Chernobyl flashback sequence and Modern Warfare 2's Pripyat stealth challenge sequence (I cant remember how the challenge was culled from the campaign maps) are up there too for excellent moments. Also, Just Cause 2 can generate some really amazing oh $#!& moments, but those are completely unscripted..."

"I just wanted to say I've owned my Xbox 360 since Gears of War launched in November 2006, and I've never had my system malfunction or crap out - I think I might've gotten an error message once or twice, but all that I had to do was reboot it and no more problems (and usually it was a "disk is unreadable error" - blow/wipe the back of the disc and reinsert and it was fine).

Just wanted to, you know, say that sometimes stuff DOES work as advertised and things CAN go according to plan. ;)"

"Not to be an ass, but I was disappointed in this article. I was expecting something more then four increasingly short exchanges with people who basically reaffirmed the stereotype of software pirates being cheap, petulant, petty jerks, which is unfortunate and does nothing but reaffirm their "non argument" for piracy.

I think this could be an extremely interesting article but thought the background/set-up (hearing about how different Canadian enforcement/policy is compared to the US) was the high point."

"I think there's nothing wrong with the assertion that Gears of War popularized many of its mechanics and features because it presented them together and executed them well, not because it reinvented the wheel. Much the same could be said for Halo - it's not that Halo was "omg teh best FPS evah!!1!!one", its that Bungie crafted an excellent first person console based shooter... you could probably even say the same for Rare and GoldenEye in their respective day."
