Monster Hunter Tri Takes Over San Francisco Subway Station

On my way home from work the other day, I discovered that the long tunnel I walk through at San Francisco's Powell Street subway station had been completely transformed into a Monster Hunter Tri advertisement. We're talking floor-to-ceiling, 50-foot-long murals depicting four heroes (helpfully named "Hunter 1," "Hunter 2," etc.) slaying a massive dragon.

Even though such a gigantic promotion for a video game in one of San Francisco's busiest stations made my jaw drop a little, it didn't faze the World's Most Inept Street Juggler, the subway mainstay seen attempting to juggle three balls at once in the picture above.

Hit the jump for more evidence of Capcom's paean to monster hunting on the Wii.

Neat. I hope all this advertising pays off for them - I would love Monster Hunter to be viable in the West.

That is amazing.

That's cool! I do wish they carried the underwater theme all the way through, 360 degrees. Would've been even better if the floor was 100% water, too...to completely immerse you. But still, this is pretty striking.

Too bad it's at a part where not a lot of people walk through. That said, subway station wraps (or even train wraps) are actually really popular in Asia, and I think it's about time we start seeing this in Bart (Montgomery Station currently has one with British Columbia) -- and imho looks way better than the normal-dirty bart stations we're used to seeing.

Walked the area this afternoon. Pretty epic. Makes me want to buy the game, but what is Monster Hunter?

@Winson: Yeah, I really liked when they did an ad for the seahorses at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in that same spot. That portion of of the station is depression otherwise: nothing but the juggler and a constant leak being sopped up by old clothes taken from who-knows-where.

That's pretty outstanding, you don't see much of anything like that in the west.
