"Regenerating health is just one more step in the dumbing down of games. I remember in Half Life when I sometimes found myself running around with extremely low health scared of everything and having to be extremely cautious, it was great fun and i can still remember those times.   Regenerating health would have meant I would just have to slow down or stand still for a while and then go back to running haphazardly at the enemy again, Health packs used to be a good reason to explore the game world and keep you eyes open."
