Bitmob Wants You: To Write About Bionic Commando, Punch-Out!!

What a huge week for game releases! First Party Pigs: FarmYard Games (Wii), then Imagine: Makeup Artist, THEN I Love Beauty (DS)? When will publishers learn? Why don't they spread out their makeup and farmyard titles rather than unleashing all the triple-A stuff in late May? Did Destineer send Party Pigs out to die?

Anyway, Punch-Out!! and Bionic Commando also slipped under the radar this week, so we thought it'd be good if the Bitmob community could write about these games. You know, so the hardcore gamers don't miss 'em.

Some of you have already started, like Stephen Barnard, who isn't a huge fan of Bionic Commando's radiation zones (I expect someone else might have a water level-related rant percolating as well, I know I do). And our own Andrew Fitch just chimed in on Punch-Out!!, too.

Great, a water level, that's a good idea.

We're looking for reviews, sure, but we're also happy to read posts that use these games as a springboard for other topics. What it felt like to finally beat Super Macho Man, say, or the fine line between challenge and frustration, and how the Bionic Commando guy swings across it over and over, dying each time.

Be sure to tag your articles with Punch Out or Bionic Commando (hit that 'tags' option over on the right when you're making a post), and we'll feature some of our favorites in a follow-up post on the front page. No set deadline, but the follow-up could be as soon as next Wednesday.

Why does Bionic Commando not look good in that photo

well it was shrunk way down from its original resolution, so that's a start.

Thank god for this article...I wouldn't have realized all those pig games were out!

I didn't mind the water as much since it didn't kill you for swinging too high
Stephen Barnard , May 23, 2009
Should have been the spider man team since it is a swinging game. Just saying is all.

I didn't mind the radiation so much as dying within four seconds of falling in the water. Bionic man can't hold his breath for more than four damn seconds?

B-but Spike Spiegel tells you "BIONICS WILL MAKE YOU SINK!".

I guess Rad just gives up on living after four seconds.

My frustrations with Bionic commando seem to be that you are given a Bionic arm that is supposed to make you feel the enjoyment of swinging all over the place. Yet, if you go to high magical radiation clouds will kill you (paying homage to Superman64) and go to low poison water will destroy you.

Bionic Commando has great moments like when you actually swing where the games wants you to. You can't have a game that's about freedom of movement then limit where a player can travel. I cannot tell you how many times I've missed a jump and fallen into basically this games variation of a bottomless pit only to be sent back to a loading screen to try again.

You get the feeling that the game is trying to preserve the old games difficulty but they attempt difficulty in terrible way. It's weird you get the feeling that the game is fucking with you and laughing behind the scenes.

There is multiple issues with the game but the music is fucking fantastic. The remixed tunes almost make me forget the problems but every wrong turn into a radiation cloud or misjudging swing distance and falling to my death Iget closer to a controller throwing rage.

I heard that Imagine: Makeup Artist game is pretty awesome, actually--especially the writing. Like, the guy who worked on that game's script is some kind of genius or something.

That's what I'm saying! Everyone's talking about Imagine: Makeup Artist, how can these other games compete with that kind of buzz?
