Am I a fool?

The early months of 2010 have enough goodies to make any video gamer explode with excitement. Bio Shock 2, MAG, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Bayonetta, FF XIII, God Of War III. Man it doesn’t stop! So where should one invest his/her precious gaming time into?

The paradox with the vastly diverse releases in the coming months is that our different gaming tastes are being catered for and we are all looking forward to different things.

For me, the best part of the on-line gaming is the community. The small battles (won or lost) with mates is what makes multiplayer and co-op great!

With all these wonderful games to play, I find myself arguing more often with my closest online buddies – and it’s not about strategies or tactics.

Not everyone can buy all the games and certainly not all of us will have the opportunity to play them all fresh on release. Therefore, discussions as of which game to invest our online time has already begun and different opinions have left my online buddies and I divided.

Within our small group, some are playing Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, others (like myself) have joined in for the journey into Gearbox’s shoot and loot world of Pandora. The majority – and the rest - are currently battling it out in modern Warfare 2.

And that is where the argument begins – Chris, why don’t you get the damn game and join us?

Sure I could by the game and join them, but I’m having fun in Pandora and I feel no desire to invest my time on MW2.

Do I feel concerned for not being involved in what many have called the best multiplayer FPS on the market?

Yes and No.

Yes because I’ve ostracised myself from a really big multiplayer community and No because I am searching for a different online gaming experience.

Secondly, I’m also really looking forward to re-discovering my pc experience – I have finally decided to upgrade my Pc to get it ready for next year’s line up of MMORPG games. I’ve never played one but am eager to discover what it offers – Star Trek Online and Bioware’s Old Republic is hot on my radar.

For the console many of my PS3 buddies will be buying MAG – I’m looking into BioShock 2 during that period and we’re all divided about Bad Company 2. Many who have Modern Warfare 2 are reluctant to move to D.I.C.E’s experience whilst those who didn’t purchase Infinity Ward’s beast are slowly getting warmed up for BC2.

What does that mean to my small on-line gaming community?

Well, it isn’t looking good.

Everyone has their own wishlist and what looked like an exciting time is slowly turning into a dividing experience – let’s hope the PSN can get that cross game chat option up and running soon.

The funny thing for me is I been away since I bought Borderlands for the PS3. So it is still fresh and great for me single player or multi-player. With that being said next year when Darksiders drops I will have two games to really play.

It is really matter of choice as I am more then likely going to skip BS2. Unless We have Bitmob Night on the PS3 and then I will rent it for MP of course.

As far as MW2 goes I will rent from time to time, but there are other things like FF XIII coming that may consume me more.

Hey toby,

I know what you mean about serious gameplay with certain titles! that's great news for us, maybe not so great news for our partners smilies/cheesy.gif
