In the flood of great DLC this summer, I personally think that Battlefield 1943 was all but forgotten after the first couple weeks of release. We spent all our time talking about Fat Princess and 'Splosion Man and failed to recognize what a great achievement Battlefield 1943 was. It may not have been revolutionary, but it made some tweaks to the classic Battlefield gameplay that all but perfected the formula. One example is getting rid of the ability to go prone. In Battlefield 1943, you can crouch, but not crawl. If you could go prone, snipers could easily be invisible. With snipers just a bit more exposed, the game allows for some thrilling sniper battles. In fact, I think sniping is my favorite part of the game. It has a real challenge to it, because, unlike in games like Call of Duty 4, you have to sometimes lead your targets (shoot a little in front of them to take their movement into account). You also have to cock your gun after every shot, so headshots are important.

One thing that many multiplayer games suffer from is what I call inhumanplayeritis, which means that everyone around you had played a lot longer and is A LOT better than you (I'm lookin' at you, Counterstrike). So far, I have not experienced that with Battlefield 1943. I play about an hour a day, five days a week, which is probably a lot less than most players, yet I rarely finish low in the team leaderboards, usually around four or five out of twelve. I am actually not great at most shooters, so I was pleasantly surprised with the accessibility of this game. This edition of Battlefield definitely succeeded in bringing the Battlefield series to the mainstream (and the sales numbers reflect that).
There still are a few flaws in Battlefield that can be fixed, but are yet to be addressed. The majority of these flaws can be summarized in two words: THREE MAPS?! Yes, they are all very good maps (even Guadalcanal, because it is a sniper's map and I chiefly play as a sniper), but even the greatest maps will get old after a while. Feel free to add new ones Dice! And to clarify, I am not talking about air superiority (which I have barely touched). In general, I use planes for two things in Battlefield: Parachuting into an enemy base or to get to an uncaptured flag the quickest by parachuting down to it. Dogfighting and me don't mix (or in more modest terms, I suck at it).
What does the community think? Are you guys still playing Battlefield 1943? What do you think of it now? I'll be eager to hear you're responses.

Oh and I love being sniper! There's nothing better than sneaking up on a tank, throwing on some charges, and blowing 'em up! I also really like laying "traps" with the charges and waiting until someone walks over them.
...I need to go play!
