Best Retro Styled Game Blunder: Black Sigil

A Studio Archcraft RPG styled after Chrono Trigger, called Black Sigil was in development for nearly four years, but the final product couldn't deliver the epic role-playing experience fans desired. It's a shame, because the storyline, music, characters, artwork, and dialogue were excellent.

What ruined the experience for many players was the extremely high encounter rate and broken battle system that enabled characters to get stuck behind other party members. The concept behind the battle system was original, but the poor implementation ruined what could have been strategic and fun.

Hopefully Canadian developer Studio Archcraft will try again, because they have talent when it comes to telling a story; they just need to work on their programming.

That's a pretty fitting category. I can comprehend the gripes people had with this game. The battles themselves didn't bother me, though the high frequency of random encounters did.

It's a shame thinking about what could have been, considering I still enjoyed it overall.

@Erik- I know...it's too bad about all those encounters. I hope it sold well enough to warrant another game, but I somehow doubt it.
