Welcome to the Bitmob Game Club!
Created by J. Cosmo Cohen, the Bitmob Game Club is a column in which four Bitmobbers play through a game selected by the community. In this edition, the contributors tackle something of a behemoth: Braid. It's divisive, it's mysterious, and if nothing else, it's bold.
Each week, the four members of the Game Club will play through a portion of Braid and write briefly about it. In the past, contributors have written poems, role-plays, fake memorandums, and Twitter logs. The Game Club is always surprising, and anything is fair game.
This week, they'll be playing through the first two worlds of of Braid. For some reason Braid's creator, Jonathan Blow, decided to name these worlds "World 2" and "World 3." Why did he do this?
Play along with the Game Club to find out.
Braid is available on Xbox Live Arcade, the Playstation Store, and on PC through Steam.
Let's meet the Game Club:
Travis McReynolds: One of Bitmob's resident funnymen, Travis McReynolds' writing is always an absolute gas. If you haven't checked out his How to Make a Gamer Laugh series, set aside some time and do so. You won't regret it.
Derek Lavigne: The one, the only...the host? This time out we've got the captain of Bitmob's own community podcast, Pixel Revolt, to help steer the ship. Community podcasts and community write ups: does this guy ever stop giving?
Alex Martin: A little while back, Alex wrote an interesting piece on the No Russian portion of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. His article posits a need for games that will challenge us intellectually. Hopefully, he'll bring this same sensibility to a game that was intended to something just like that.
J. Cosmo Cohen: Despite the fact the he created the damn column, J. Cosmo Cohen has never actually contributed content to it -- he's mostly stuck to editing. That's all about to change.
Be sure to play along and give these fellows feedback!
