If your better half doesn't share your appreciation for video games, you've most likely heard the "waste of money" speech when it comes to game-related memorabilia. A gallery of these great items you don't really need (and can't live without) appeared at the recent American International Toy Fair in New York [via Fort90]:

On hand for the event: tons of kick-ass video game prototype toys and statues, including obvious choices such as characters from The Legend of Zelda, Metroid's Samus, Halo, Mass Effect 2, and Final Fantasy. One of the coolest parts of this year's Fair, though, was the appearance of toys from lesser-known games like Chrono Trigger, Front Mission Evolved, and Lost Planet 2.
